'Gossip Girl' Revival Premiere Sets New Record For HBO Max

Gossip Girl premiered on HBO Max last week and the series premiere was a BIG hit!

The new revival series – starring Jordan Alexander, Eli Brown, Thomas Doherty, Tavi Gevinson, Emily Alyn Lind, Evan Mock, Zion Moreno, Whitney Peak and Savannah Smith – had the biggest launch on the streaming service since it’s launch in May 2020.

According to HBO Max, “Within an hour of the episode’s premiere at 12:01 a.m. PT on Thursday, the show was trending No. 11 nationwide on Twitter, continuing as a Top 5 trend through mid-day.” (via The Wrap)

The streaming service also saw a “greater proportion of new subscribers choosing [Gossip Girl] as the first thing to watch after signing up,” more than any other Max original.

In addition, the original GG saw a 200% increase of the first season in the week leading up to the revival’s premiere.

Many outlets are also reporting that Gossip Girl has been renewed for a second season, but JJJ has learned that there has not been any official announcement yet.

Gossip Girl premieres new episodes weekly on Thursday at 3am ET/12am PT. The first part of season one will go through August 12th, with the second half coming this fall.
