Artem Chigvintsev Returning To 'Dancing With The Stars' Ballroom After Baby's Birth!

Surprise! Artem Chigvintsev is heading back to Dancing With The Stars!

The 38-year-old new dad will be making his return as the final pro dancer for the upcoming season of the hit show.

“Last season watching from the sidelines really made me realize how much I miss the show, miss performing live,” Artem said on Good Morning America. “I just can’t wait to get back, and I want to dedicate this season to my little boy.”

“I’ve been working out every single day trying to get back into my dancing shape,” he added. “By the premiere, I’ll be top-notch.”

Earlier this month, Artem and his fiance Nikki Bella welcomed their baby boy into the world.

Artem was one of a couple of dancers who were shockingly not asked to return to the ballroom in season 28, and now they are BOTH back!

Sharna Burgess & Artem Chigvintsev Are Working on a Second Project Together

Sharna Burgess steps out and supports longtime friend Victoria Arlen at the launch of her new Jockey collection held at SIXTY Beverly Hills on Thursday night (September 26) in Beverly Hills, Calif.

The former Dancing With The Stars pro dancer and Victoria posed for some super cute pics inside the event. So cute!

Sharna recently chatted with ET about her next project, and it’s with Artem Chigvintsev again. The two previously worked on a piece for the recent season of So You Think You Can Dance, following them not returning for DWTS season 28.

“We’re actually building a show concept to pitch a live show … it’s a very new concept,” she teased. “Artem and I are putting it together to both be in it, but also produce it. We’re working with a great team right now putting it together. It’s super, super exciting. It’s just something different, wild and creative.”

Sharna added, “Dance and acting related, it’s a live show! Artem and I have always danced well together. There are people that just move with an energy that you connect to and Artem is one of them. He can take up frame with me and I don’t even need to know the steps. He can lead me around that floor into anything. Honestly, that’s how half of our dances on [DWTS] tour came together.”

Sharna Burgess Was 'More Shocked' That She Wouldn't Be Returning For DWTS, Artem Chigvintsev Says

When the pros were announced for the upcoming season of Dancing With The Stars, we were shocked to see reigning champ Sharna Burgess not on that list.

Sharna was one of two long-running pros not on the list, including Artem Chigvintsev, who opened up about his unexpected departure from the show on The Bellas podcast.

Speaking again to ET, Artem opened up about the situation and says that Sharna was even more shocked than he was not to be returning for the new season.

“She was, honestly, probably like even more shocked than I am. Because when you win the last season, you would think you’d have a guaranteed spot. In the past 27 seasons, this was the case — you won, you’re obviously in, you’re the reigning mirrorball champion!” Artem shared.

He continued, “I don’t think she had any thought in her head that she wouldn’t be back, simply because of the winning situation. But I also understand that there was so much controversy with Bobby [Bones] winning. I don’t know if that somehow affected it, but if that were the case, I’d be even more upset for her.”

“She didn’t choose her partner, she was given her partner, and she did the best she could [with him] during the show. She did her job with what was expected of her, and if she weren’t part of the show because of Bobby? That would be really bad.”

Just a few weeks earlier, Sharna had posted an Instagram saying she was grateful for her time on the show. Although, at that time, she didn’t know she wouldn’t be returning.

Dancing With The Stars returns on Monday, September 16th on ABC.

Sharna Burgess, Witney Carson & More DWTS Pros Reveal Which Athletes They'd Love To Join The Show

The Dancing With the Stars cast announcement is only one week away and the pros are dishing about just which athletes they’d love to see on the shortened season.

Sharna Burgess, Alan Bersten, Witney Carson, Gleb Savchenko and Artem Chigvintsev all spoke to ET about which athletes they have their eye on.

For Alan, Gleb and Artem – they have their eyes on Olympians.

“I watched the Olympics this season, just because I was like, ‘A lot of these people might be on the show,’” Alan shared. “[Snowboarder] Chloe Kim looks awesome, and she has a really good personality, a really good energy, good spirit, so she’d be really cool.”

He also agrees with Gleb and Artem about having a figure skater for a partner.

Gleb shared, “I would love to have as a partner someone who has done something connected to music. Probably a figure skater. Someone young, someone with energy. And just someone really who wants to win. I need a mirrorball.”

Artem is also here for that mirrored ball: “A figure skater would be awesome. I’ll tell you, whoever will get me that mirrorball trophy, how about that?”

Meanwhile, Sharna and Witney are looking at other sports, like basketball and football.

Witney has her eyes set on basketball star LeBron James, and even named Adam Rippon as one of her dream people to join.

For Sharna, she’s hoping to be teamed up with another basketball player, like “Kobe Bryant, because, well… Kobe!,” or an NFL star.

“I think Colin Kaepernick has an incredible story to tell,” she adds. “Or Julian Edelman from the Patriots, because I may or may not have a little crush on him.”

The Dancing With The Stars cast and pro announcement will happen on April 13th, with the season premiering on Monday, April 30th on ABC.
