Burkely Duffield and Jonathan Whitesell are sharing their thoughts after the sad news that their Freeform series Beyond has been cancelled after two seasons.

The actors – who play brothers Holden and Luke Matthews – both took to social media on Saturday (March 31) to reflect.

“It all started 3 years ago with a dream role and a rainy parking lot,” Burkely captioned this photo from the show on Instagram. “Sadly we will not be returning for a Season 3. But thank you all SOOO much for watching 2 seasons of @beyond 💚 I will truly miss my Beyond family and playing this awesome character, it has been an amazing ride!! #RIPBeyond #HoldenMatthewssigningoff.”

“The news is in and unfortunately we won’t be getting a third season of Beyond,” Jonathan added on Twitter. “I wanted to reach out and say thank you to all the fans for sticking with us and joining us on this crazy ride. It was truly a joy to play Luke 🙏.”

Beyond centered on a young man who wakes up from a 12-year coma to discover new abilities that come to propel him into the middle of a dangerous conspiracy.

Holden struggles and starts to second guess himself in this new clip from tonight’s season finale of Beyond.

In the episode, titled “There’s No Home for You Here”, Diego’s latest attack hits close to the Matthews home, leaving Holden (Burkely Duffield) and Charlie (Eden Brolin) to try and explain what is happening to a frantic Tom and Diane.

Meanwhile, Agent Borden furthers her plan to take down Hollow Sky, and Luke (Jonathan Whitesell) and Willa (Dilan Gwyn) take drastic steps.

Dilan Gwyn and Burkely Duffield try their hand at a fun, but frustrating maze game in this exclusive clip.

The two Beyond stars, and their cast mates tried to get three tiny peebles into the center circle of the maze — just like someone getting out of the realm on the Freeform series.

But, the most anyone got, was one.

Jonathan Whitesell, who plays Luke, got really frustrated with the game and gave up on it — which is the exact same thing we would do too.

Looks like Charlie and Holden are letting off some steam and having a bit of fun by bowling in tonight’s all-new Beyond.

In the episode, “Bedposts”, Holden (Burkely Duffield) turns to Charlie (Eden Brolin) for help in understanding what is happening with him and the Realm – but she is reluctant to share why she’s back in Ft. Reed.

Meanwhile, Jeff (Jeff Pierre) digs up info on the mysterious Edgar and what his connection to Holden might be; and, Willa (Dilan Gwyn) and Holden realize they need to work on their communication.

If you’ve been watching Beyond, you know that there’s a love triangle that is JUST getting started between Holden, Willa and Charlie.

Dilan Gwyn, who plays Willa, has definitely seen your fan theories about who belongs with Holden more, too.

Speaking to Syfy, Dilan shares that she’s “curious to see what people say. Fans of this show are really kind, and there’s a lot of positivity oozing from the internet, so to speak. It’s fun to read and kind of be like, okay, so this is what people think, or this is how people feel.”

She adds, “There’s the whole ‘Team Willa, Team Charlie’ and that whole thing … which I personally, I don’t really understand that whole thing, because for me, I feel like Charlie’s Charlie. Willa’s Willa.”

“For me, their worth isn’t measured in how much they’re compatible with Holden,” Dilan says. “I guess that’s how people watch shows nowadays, it’s how well you’re compatible with the main character — it’s the same, though, because they’re both really powerful figures.”

We’re just one day out from the season two premiere of Beyond and JJJ is so excited!

The cast of the Freeform series — Burkely Duffield, Romy Rosemont, Michael McGrady, Jonathan Whitesell, Dilan Gwyn, Jeff Pierre and Eden Brolin — have summed up the feeling of season two into three words, and they were having so much trouble with it!

Eden described the new season as “dangerous, edgy and heartwarming”.

In season two, in Holden’s attempt to now live a normal life, he must ask himself if a normal life is what he truly wants; and what if the Realm can still wreak havoc on Holden’s life and the lives of those he loves?

Beyond premieres TOMORROW @ 8PM ET/PT on Freeform.

We’re only a couple more weeks out from the season two premiere of Beyond and Freeform has debuted two new clips from the show!

In the upcoming season, we’ll see Holden and Willa adjusting to life outside the Realm — but the Realm isn’t actually ready to let them go.

“Season 2 is about the Realm coming back for Holden,” EP David Eick teased.

EP Tim Kring added that “It’s always fun to go into these fantasy worlds and see all that, but the real danger happens when it comes into your home, or into your life.”

Beyond will be back on Thursday, January 18th on Freeform.
