Grant Gustin Defends Candice Patton Against Racist Trolls Commenting On His Instagrams

Grant Gustin will always have Candice Patton‘s back.

The Flash actor made that clear about his co-star on his Instagram Stories last night after several comments about her race made it into the comments on his Instagrams.

After responding to some of them, Grant took to his story to clarify that Candice will always be HIS Iris.

“Our Iris is an African American actress. She is black. She is beautiful and she is our Iris,” he stated. “She is Barry’s endgame…I have her back and always will have her back.”

Earlier that night, Grant responded back to trolls on one of his Instagrams who were taking issue (still) that Iris West was played by a POC on the series.

“I’m pretty sure I’ve made that pretty clear in every single interview I’ve given about our characters over the years,” he responded to one commenter. “…She knows I have her back. I will absolutely be better about denouncing the hideous remarks and not just blocking.”

Here is what the fan wrote: “Candace I love your work but the CW shows like supergirl lesbian and trans . Arrow gay characters , both sexed legends lesbian , and now bat girl are all becoming obsessive flag waivers that’s ruining the shows not because it’s not valid because it’s ramming down throats .”

“Mark, You’ll be alright. I promise. I made it through my entire childhood and many years after that with mostly straight white heroes,” Candice responded.
