Corey Fogelmanis Is Way More Into The Horror Genre Than You Actually Realized

If it’s one thing you must know about Corey Fogelmanis, it’s that he’s all about the horror genre.

Speaking with Seventeen earlier this week about his new Into The Dark special, School Spirit, the 19-year-old actor picked out his fave horror films.

His favorite horror movie of all-time is the 1978 version of Halloween, and shared that he’s really excited about the next two movies from Blumhouse Productions coming in the franchise.

Corey also shared that Funny Games, a movie about two men who take a family hostage and force them to play sadistic games, is an underrated gem.

“I was definitely nervous about the performance in different aspects of it and wanting to make sure it was balanced,” Corey told J-14 in another interview on if he was at all scared while filming.

He adds, “Once you see the whole thing, it’s kind of hard to talk about because I don’t want to give too much away, but once you see it you’ll see why there were different aspects that I wanted to give special attention to. So I wasn’t necessarily scared in a horror way, but I guess I was a little bit scared.”

School Spirit is streaming now on Hulu.

Corey Fogelmanis Is Obsessed with Hulu's 'Into The Dark' Anthology Series

Corey Fogelmanis wears a center part in his hair while making an appearance at Build Brunch on Wednesday (July 24) in New York City.

The 19-year-old actor went on the show to talk about his new episode of Hulu’s Into The Dark: “School Spirit”.

“I’m obsessed with it, it’s so cool. Before I was even a part of it, I had watched a couple of the other episodes on Hulu,” he said. “I think it’s so cool they take so many risks and it’s really out of the box. I was really excited. I feel like they’re telling cool stories.

Since Corey has done a few projects in the horror genre, Ma, Into The Dark, and Mostly Ghostly, he was asked if he was a big horror fan.

“You know what, that’s just what I keep getting cast as. I don’t know, I’m scary or something,” he dished. “It definitely hasn’t been a choice, it’s been like, ‘Oh this is what I’ve been able to get,’ but I’m not complaining. I think it’s really cool.”

FYI: Corey is wearing a Bally leather jacket.

The first pics of Corey Fogelmanis and the new cast of Hulu’s School Spirit are here!

Part of the streaming service’s Into The Dark anthology, the 19-year-old actor stars opposite Annie Q, Jessi Case, Julian Works, Philip Labes and Hugo Armstrong in the upcoming show.

“I was actually super pumped about the possibility of working on Hulu and Blumhouse’s Into The Dark before I even had the role,” Corey shared with JJJ about the new project. “I had seen many of the previous episodes of the anthology series and I loved the risks that the team seemed to be taking and the super interesting, out-of-the-box stories they were telling.”

“I think the idea of deriving horror from everyday situations and people is really clever.”

Corey added that some of his favorite scenes were with Hugo “who plays the vice principal in charge of our Saturday detention. His character has a very looming a presence on the kids and he came in so committed and give us a lot to work with.”

“I think the fact that he’s over 6 feet tall in real life made it easier to be terrified in his presence. He’s a really fantastic (and tall) actor.”

The School Spirit installment follows a group of social outcasts who are stuck in weekend detention and then confronted by the school’s legendary hauntings, and will premiere on August 2nd.

Corey Fogelmanis Opens Up About Leaving Disney Channel

Corey Fogelmanis looks so handsome on the cover of Bello magazine, available now.

The 19-year-old actor opened up about his role in Ma, leaving Disney Channel and his love of fashion. Check it:

On taking on new roles outside of Disney Channel: “As I’ve grown as a person, the most important thing for me was to find projects that gave me the opportunity to translate that growth into my acting. I was super excited about working on this movie because there were so many aspects of it that I didn’t previously have in other work. Elements of sexuality and maturity and realism were all things I was excited about in the initial script and I think it’s really cool that people will get to see parts of me they’ve never seen before. I’m all about little baby steps of growth. Filming Ma was that and so much more for me.”

On filming Ma: “I can’t recall a single moment where we didn’t having fun while filming this movie. My costar Gianni is one of the funniest people I know and has the most intoxicating laugh. Especially during all of the party sequences that didn’t require anything too intense emotionally, we were living our best lives. The heavier days were typically much quieter so we often looked forward to the cast/crew dance parties that followed dinner.”

On his interest in fashion: “I have been redefining my relationship to fashion as I develop a stronger point of view. Where it sits for me now is very related to the things I’ve been working on/through in my life. I don’t always feel like I’m the kind of person that is able to walk into a room and command attention. I typically feel like one of the quieter people in a room. So fashion has been a way for me to say something without actually having to say anything. I’ve found it to have a direct relationship to confidence, whether that be for better or for worse. I think its possibilities are amazing and endless.”
