Jordan Fisher Officially Announces He's Returning To 'Dear Evan Hansen' On Broadway!

It’s official – Jordan Fisher will be back on Broadway later this year!

The 27-year-old entertainer made the announcement on Good Morning America on Tuesday morning (June 1) in New York City.

Jordan appeared on the morning show with the cast of Dear Evan Hansen, where he announced he will reopen the show when it returns to the Great White Way in December. They also performed “You Will Be Found.”

Ben Platt & Kaitlyn Dever's 'Dear Evan Hansen' Movie Gets September Release Date

The upcoming Dear Evan Hansen movie adaptation has just been given a release date!

The film version will premiere in theaters on September 14th, Universal Pictures announced, via Deadline.

Ben Platt will be reprising the title role, for which he won a Tony award for.

Kaitlyn Dever, Amandla Stenberg, Nik Dodani, Colton Ryan, Amy Adams and Julianne Moore also star.

Here’s a synopsis: “The story follows Evan Hansen, a high schooler with social anxiety. He unintentionally gets caught up in a lie after the family of a classmate who died by suicide mistakes one of Hansen’s letters for their son’s suicide note.”

Stephen Chbosky is directing the movie, with a script by Steven Levenson, who also wrote the book for the stage musical. The musical’s songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, along with Steven also serve as executive producers, as well as Ben‘s dad Marc Platt.

The Dear Evan Hansen cast is getting closer to being complete!

It was just announced that Atypical star Nik Dodani and Little Voice star Colton Ryan have joined the cast of the Broadway musical’s movie adaptation, Deadline reveals.

Nik will take on the role of Jared, Evan’s enterprising family friend. Colton will play Connor, a troubled high school senior who is a catalyst for the plot of the musical.

Colton is no stranger to the role of Connor in Dear Evan Hansen, as he was an understudy for the role in the original Broadway cast!

Nik can be seen in the upcoming second season of Trinkets on Netflix, while Colton stars in the first season of Sara Bareille‘s musical show Little Voice on Apple TV+.

Amandla Stenberg will join the cast of the upcoming Dear Evan Hansen movie adaptation!

It was just announced that the 21-year-old actress is set to play Alana Beck, in an expanded role for the film version, Variety reports.

Amandla will also get to sing a new original song, which she is co-writing alongside the Broadway musical’s original songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.

Alana is a high school senior whose cheery façade and social-media savvy mask a deeper loneliness and isolation, and whose response to the death of a classmate ignites a movement.

The 23-year-old actress and singer would star as Zoe Murphy, alongside Ben Platt‘s Evan, Deadline reports.

Dear Evan Hansen tells the story of a young man with social anxiety disorder who so yearns to make a connection with his peers that he fabricates a relationship with a deceased student to become closer to the boy’s family.

Ben originated the role of Dear Evan Hansen on Broadway and the show went on to win numerous awards, from Tonys to Grammys.

Stephen Chobsky is set to direct with Steven Levenson, who wrote the book for the musical, will write the film, and Benj Pasek and Justin Paul taking on the music again, as they wrote the music for the stage.
