Why Is Demi Lovato's YouTube Docu-Series 4 Parts? Director Explains

Demi Lovato‘s new docu-series Demi Lovato: Dancing With The Devil is premiering on YouTube today (March 23)!

The 28-year-old’s four part documentary is “an honest look back at some of the most trying times in Lovato’s life. For the first time, Lovato will open up about every aspect that led to her nearly fatal overdose in 2018, and her awakenings in the aftermath as viewers are granted unprecedented access to the superstar’s personal and musical journey over the past three years, including footage from when the initial production for this project began during Lovato’s 2018 Tell Me You Love Me World Tour.”

Demi previously released another documentary, Simply Complicated, back in 2017, but that was just an hour and 18 minutes long.

The director of Dancing With The Devil, Michael D Ratner (pictured here), is explaining why the series is broken up into four parts.

“I think that four parts felt right to me because we cover so many topics. If it was one film released at once, I didn’t think that we would get our due dialogue on each topic,” he told THR.

“There are so many conversations that Demi and I hope spark as a result of this — important conversations. To release everything at once would have resulted in glossing over some stuff that I think deserves its own moment in time and its own big conversation,” he added.

Demi Lovato Says She's Too Fluid To Put a Label On Her Sexuality

Demi Lovato looks fierce in red in this photo from her new Paper Magazine cover feature.

The 28-year-old posed for multiple looks and even turned into a bit of an alien for some of the pics.

“Photoshoot of my dreams 👽🌈,” Demi said on Instagram of the shoot.

In the mag, Demi opened up about her sexuality and how she doesn’t really have a specific label for herself.

“Going back over the past year, I thought my life was going to turn out a lot differently than it has,” she said. “At one point I was engaged to a man, and now I’m very much not.”

“I just wanted to allow myself the freedom to match my outside to what I feel like on the inside, and that’s what I’ve done,” she shared about her newly black, short hair.

“The queer label is fine because to me it’s just this blanket statement of being different,” Demi added. “That’s what I can commit to. I feel like I’m too fluid to commit to a label.”

Ariana Grande Is Actually The Reason Why Scooter Braun Signed Demi Lovato!

Scooter Braun signed on to manage Demi Lovato back in 2019, but did you know it was Ariana Grande who actually convinced him?

It was revealed in a new feature for the New York Times that the 27-year-old “Rain On Me” Grammy winner told him he had to sign the 28-year-old entertainer.

“I saw that she was scared, like, no one’s going to take me on,” Scooter shared. “I asked Ariana’s opinion and she said, ‘Let me go to coffee with her.’ And by the time she got home, she texted me: ‘You have to take her on, this is my friend. I want to know she’s safe.’”

Demi announced on May 11, 2019 that she signed with Scooter to be her new manager, after leaving her previous, longtime management team.

Scooter, who also manages Ariana, Justin Bieber and more, has previously opened up about actually not wanting to sign Demi at first.

Now, Demi and Ariana recently teased the definitive possibility of a long-awaited collaboration, and it will in fact be featured on Demi‘s just announced new album, Dancing With The Devil… The Art of Starting Over.

Demi Lovato Reveals New Album Title & Release Date!

We have some amazing news for fans of Demi Lovato fans – new music is coming very, very soon!

The 28-year-old singer just announced the title and release date of her upcoming album while speaking to fans during a chat on the Clubhouse app.

Dancing With the Devil: The Art of Starting Over will drop on April 2!

The original title was just going to be The Art of Starting Over, but she decided to tie it into her new documentary Dancing With the Devil.

“If you listen to it track by track, if you follow the track listing, it’s kind of actually like the non-official soundtrack to the documentary. Because it really does follow my life over the past couple of years,” Demi said during the chat. “When we went through the track listing and kind of mapped out how it kind of coincided with my life’s story, it made sense to add the more emotional stuff in the beginning and then transition into ‘The Art of Starting Over.’”

There will be 19 tracks on the album and three bonus songs. Three of the songs will be collaborations and there are rumors that one of them might be with Ariana Grande.

The Dancing With the Devil documentary will premiere on YouTube as a four-part series on March 23.
