The Dancing With the Stars alum and longtime girlfriend of fellow DWTS star Derek Hough took to Instagram on Saturday (September 14) to honor Oreo‘s memory with a heartfelt tribute.
“Anyone who knows me, knows how much love I have for all animals but more specifically for my animals that become my family,” Hayley captioned a slideshow of images. “It breaks my heart to write that we had to put Oreo, our family cat of almost 17 years, down today.”
“Everyone that had ever met Oreo knew how feisty (very feisty), fluffy, loving (selectively), and adventurous he was,” she added. “He was my Easter present from my parents when I was 8 years old and I bawled my eyes out because I was so happy. I wrote in my journal (swipe to see the picture) about how happy I was, how ornery he was, and that I would always love him.”
“That is still true today, I will always love him and will miss him so much. 💚,” she finished.
“I love your heart babe,” Derek Hough commented with a heart emoji. “Never easy to lose an animal, especially one that’s been such a big part of your life. I love you.”

The two hit the red carpet together just before it was revealed that Hayley would not be returning to Dancing With The Stars in the new season, as the troupe was cut from the show.
In a new Instagram post, Hayley opened up about her future beyond the show and giving thanks to it for helping her in her career.
“”As some of you may already know, I unfortunately will not be apart of DWTS this season. The past 3.5 years have been the most incredible journey for me. To have been apart of this show for 7 seasons, 4 tours, and a mentor on DWTS Juniors is beyond anything I could have imagined,” she wrote. “Thank you to everyone who has supported me over the years, I adore you all and would not be where I am without your love.”
Hayley added, “I want to wish everyone in my dancing fam the best of luck this season! They all will kill it as usual! As sad as I am to not be apart of this season, life has decided to guide me in a different direction and I am excited to see where it will take me. Much love ♥ï¸.”

Earlier last month, Hayley and Derek headed on a little European getaway following the conclusion of his solo tour in the US.

The Nashville star, the Raven’s Home actress, and the boy band teamed up for the Westwood One Radio Roundtables event held ahead of the award show at Lexus Lounge on Friday (February 8) in Los Angeles.

Later on, she posted another pic with them both bundled up in ski gear while playing out in the snow.
