Matthew Daddario, Alberto Rosende, & More 'Shadowhunters' Stars React to 'Save Shadowhunters' Campaign

The cast of Shadowhunters is truly impressed with the #SaveShadowhunters campaign, which kicked off the moment the series was announced as cancelled.

Stars Katherine McNamara, Matthew Daddario, Alberto Rosende, Emeraude Toubia, Dominic Sherwood, Harry Shum, Jr., and more opened to TVGuide about the campaign and how they are really impressed with what the fans have been doing in the name of the series.

“The coolest thing for me is seeing this group of people who are internationally connected that are pushing for things they want to see, trying to educate the world, trying to change their environment in a positive way,” Alberto, who plays Simon, shared. “You see that with their donation to the Trevor Project and everything that they’ve been able to do.”

He adds, “As much as I love that there’s a focus around #SaveShadowhunters, the true power isn’t in just the show, it’s in the fact that they’ve created a community that can do that and has done it on a global scale. It’s something that people would never say could have happened, and more so than the #SaveShadowhunters thing, they should be super proud and we’re super proud that we could motivate a group of people to do something like that. It’s cool. Humbling.”

Matthew adds that he’s been shocked at everything the fans have been doing.

“It’s like, ‘Okay, wow! Didn’t realize you guys were this capable, this efficient and this creative!’ It’s very fascinating, and I love the enthusiasm,” he says.

“The charity efforts are really good, because it’s not just selfish, it’s not just, ‘We want our show back,’ it’s also, ‘Look we have this show that we bonded over, and we’re going to try to do something for the community, and really support something that’s good for all people, The Trevor Project.’ It’s really kind of touching.”

The #SaveShadowhunters campaign is still going strong, however, the cast just wrapped filming on the possible series finale this week.

Dominic Sherwood Shares Touching Tribute To 'Shadowhunters' After Wrapping Filming on Possible Series Finale

Dominic Sherwood waited a while for any type of goodbye to Shadowhunters, but when he finally did, it was a good one.

The longtime Jace portrayer shared a goofy pic of him wrapped up in a bungee cord in the makeup trailer on Instagram this week, after filming his final scenes for the series.

“What a ride. I have laughed and cried and experienced a full spectrum of emotion over the last three years,” Dominic wrote. “All I can say is thank you for this opportunity.”

“Being allowed to wake up every day and become f***ing JACE!! The hero. The soldier. The lover. The brother. The parabatai. Is more than I could have ever dreamed [of],” he added. “Thank you everyone for sharing him with me. Hopefully you’ve learned from him as I have. About love and compassion above everything else.”

Dominic didn’t forget the fans either: “I love each and every one of you and you all have a special place in my heart. Keep loving and smiling always. Thank you.”

Shadowhunters will return in 2019 with season 3B plus a possible two-part series finale.

Katherine McNamara, Dominic Sherwood, Matthew Daddario & More Were Just As Shocked About 'Shadowhunters' Being Cancelled

Last night, we were blindsided by the news that Freeform had made the decision to cancel Shadowhunters after three seasons; and just like you, the cast wasn’t prepared for it.

Katherine McNamara, Dominic Sherwood, Alberto Rosende, Matthew Daddario, Emeraude Toubia, and Isaiah Mustafa all took to social media to react to the devastating news.

“We just found out too — and believe me we are as shocked as you,” Katherine shared in a message on Twitter. “Truly, this show has been a treasure. I fell in love with this story and its mythology instantly.”

“Playing Clary has been an honor and a joy,” she adds. “She is such a special, strong lady (some might say short, redheaded and bad-tempered) — thank you for entrusting her to me and coming on this journey with us.”

'Shadowhunters' Was Just Canceled, But There's Good News Too!

We’re so sad to report that Shadowhunters has been canceled by Freeform after three seasons, but we’re so happy that the network will be giving fans a proper ending to the series.

The 10 episodes for season three have already been filmed and they cover books four and five in the Mortal Instruments series. Two more episodes will be made and they will follow the sixth and final book in the series.

“We are very proud of Shadowhunters, a series that broke new ground in the genre world and became a fan favorite,” Freeform said in a statement. “However, along with our partners at Constantin, we reached the very difficult decision not to renew the show for a fourth season. But as big supporters and fans ourselves, Freeform insisted on and championed the filming of a special two-part finale that would give devoted fans a proper ending. The twelve episodes will air in spring of 2019. We want to thank our talented creators, producers, cast and crew along with our colleagues at Constantin for their hard work and dedication and to Cassie Clare for her incredible book series. We look forward to the final chapter of this breakthrough drama.”

Shadowhunters stars Katherine McNamara, Dominic Sherwood, Alberto Rosende, Matthew Daddario, Emeraude Toubia, and Isaiah Mustafa.

Dominic Sherwood Ripped His Pants One Of The First Times He Wore The Owl Costume in 'Shadowhunters'

Dominic Sherwood has an incredibly funny story about wearing, and shooting in, The Owl’s wardrobe on the Shadowhunters set.

During his recent interview with EW, the 28-year-old British actor revealed that one day on set, while dressed as The Owl, nothing went right.

“It’s a mask,” Dominic shared first about the look he has to get into every time. “They do the face mold which is no fun — you’re in a warm room, and they put this goo on your face, and you have to sit there for like an hour breathing through a tube. It’s a pretty rough day.”

He continues, “Then they give it to you and it feels funny wearing it, and then you can’t really breathe properly and you can’t see.”

“The first scene I did, we had these rain towers up, and I couldn’t see through the lenses because they’re foggy. They’re also tinted, and it was night so everything was really dark. Then what we found out is that the masks leaked and the lenses started to fill up with water. That was difficult.”

But that’s not the funny part at all – this is: “The pants ripped, too, literally from my belly button all the way to the small of my back. That was fun.”

Dominic explains that “every time this creature possesses someone, he kneels over them and holds their face. And sure enough, I kneeled down and [my pants] ripped all the way through. Thank god I chose to even wear underwear that day, but I chose to wear bright orange underwear, which everybody saw.”
