The 28-year-old actor dished about what it’s been like for his character since Clary brought him back from the dead.
“Every time he seems to get a foothold in anything really – it’s almost like the writers don’t like me – people just pull the rug out from under him,” he toldTV Guide. “He finally had people to call his own and his own last name. You know, as silly as it is, that name, Herondale, that’s who he is now. But then his kind of hereditary legacy is psychosis. That’s what he’s been left with, so it’s difficult.”
“I think the big thing that’s heartbreaking for him is not just that he thinks he’s losing his mind, which obviously is so drastic for a Shadowhunter,” Dominic added. “It’s like a soldier being declared not fit for duty. If this came out they would de-rune him and make him a human. He wouldn’t be with his friends, he wouldn’t be able to be part of this world anymore, and I think that’s kind of a fate worse than death for him.”

The Shadowhunters star celebrated his 28th birthday earlier this week and Niamh, a British and South African model, celebrated it online with a cute pic of the two kissing from a recent tropical vacation.
The Shadowhunters star is turning 28 today and his co-star Katherine McNamara possibly had the sweetest birthday wishes for him.
“Happy Birthday, to one of my favorites, @domsherwood,” she writes on Instagram. “Thank you for always being honest, for encouraging me to take risks, and being there when I need advice.”
Kat adds, “We’ve been a team for a while now and I’m so thrilled we are in this together. You’ve got a tireless spirit and an eye for mischief, but above all you have a heart of gold.”
The 27-year-old Shadowhunters actor was caught using an offensive and inappropriate gay comment in his co-star’s Facebook Live and has taken to Instagram to share an apology for saying it.
“I’m speaking to all of you today to hold myself accountable and not to make any excuses in any way,” Dominic begins in the video alongside Matt. “The way I behaved today was disgusting and horrible.”
Dominic continued: “I think so many problematic phrases go unchallenged and they perpetrate negativity and hate and intolerance and today I was apart of that…I just want to say that I am deeply sorry to all of you and all of my castmates and I’m sorry for disappointing you.”
Dominic Sherwood might just be in his 20s but he’s already working on his legacy.
Speaking with People in their Sexiest Man Alive issue, the Shadowhunters star opened up about his other passion in life other than acting — and it’s building self-sustaining villages in developing countries.
“Essentially a small town encapsulating schools, housing and medical care if it’s needed,” Dominic shares. “That’s something I’ve been working on with an engineer friend of mine for the last couple months to try and put it into place.”
He adds that “before I die I’d like that to be set up with a view to it continuing on.”

Dominic revealed in the glossy that he has a fear of the dummies that are hanging out on the set.
“On set they cover them up and walk me a different way,” he admitted.
Alberto also shared that the craziest rumor about himself he’s heard is about his height!
“There’s this rumor online that I’m like 5’4″. It’s very upsetting. I’m a solid 5’10″,” he says. “But if that’s the craziest thing I have to worry about, then I think I’m doing all right.”
