Happy New Music Friday!!

We are kicking things off this week with Ed Sheeran‘s brand new song “Bad Habits.”

“Feels great to be back with my new single. I wanted the video for Bad Habits to play on the nature of habits in a fantastical way so I decided on vampires. It was mega fun getting into character except for the heights (that wasn’t so fun). Enjoy x,” he said about the song.

Ed also dropped the music video, with his BFF Taylor Swift saying, “It’s Ed and it’s glitter so it’s a yes for me.”

Ed Sheeran is celebrating his birthday with a bit of music related news!

The musician turns 30 years old TODAY (February 17). Happy Birthday Ed!

Ed took to his Instagram account to thank fans for their birthday love and messages, and he also teased that a new album will be out this year.

“30 today. Thank you for all your wonderful messages, I feel very loved. Currently dressed the same as I was on my 3rd birthday about to chow down on Colin the pirate caterpillar, poor bloke,” he captioned a post. “I’ll be back online with the 4th instalment in the series later this year, until then xx”

The “4th installment in the series” is referring to his album titles, with “-” (Subtract) being next in line. Ed has already released “+” (Plus), “x” (Multiply) and “÷” (Divide).

Ed‘s last album release was his collab album No.6 Collaborations Project in 2019 and before that, “÷” was released in 2017. He also just released his latest song “Afterglow” back in December!

In December 2019, Ed announced he was taking a break for a while, and in September 2020, he and wife Cherry Seaborn welcomed their first baby!

The top-selling artists of 2019 have been revealed!

IFPI, the organization the represents the recorded music industry worldwide, has revealed the Top 10 best-selling artists of last year – and Taylor Swift took the number 1 spot!

“Taylor Swift is the epitome of a truly global star,” IFPI CEO Frances Moore shared in a statement via Billboard. “She continues to grow as an artist and maintains an incredibly strong connection with her fanbase, whilst continuing to evolve her sound with each album. It is a pleasure to be able to present her with the Global Recording Artist of the Year award for the second time.”

This is Taylor‘s second time being named the top-selling artist. She first earned the honor in 2014.

Ed Sheeran and wife Cherry are all smiles on vacation in Italy!

The 28-year-old singer and his wife stepped out to do some sightseeing on Sunday (January 5) in Venice, Italy.

Ed bundled up in a blue, puffer jacket while Cherry wrapped up in an oversized, tan scarf during their afternoon outing.

If you missed it, Ed recently revealed that he is taking a break to “travel, write and read,” but promises that he’ll be back with new music soon!

Ed Sheeran is getting candid about his weight loss journey.

The 28-year-old musician revealed that after gaining weight during a rigorous touring schedule, he has lost 50 pounds.

Ed explained that when he started smoking, his fitness regimen “all kind of went out the window.” He admits to “ballooning” during his X Tour in 2014 followed by the Divide Tour in 2017 and weighing around “15 to 16 stone” (210-224 lbs).

“It’s always America that gets me. America in buses. You finish a gig in America [and] you get a tray of chicken wings, sit in the back of the bus, watch The Simpsons, drink a couple bottles of wine. Then that’s every single day so it just piles on you,” Ed said on the Behind the Medal podcast.

After facing criticism in the media for his weight and wanting to the clear out his lungs from smoking, Ed decided to make a change three years ago.

Ed now spends time running every day and enjoys things in moderation, weighing in around 12 stone (168 lbs).

“I had to make a real effort on the tour. I’m 12 stone now. I started running. I’ve got into cycling as well…You can’t be outwardly unhealthy, but also you have to find a balance,” Ed concluded.
