Jesy Nelson‘s new mental health documentary, Odd One Out, premiered tonight on BBC Three and she’s getting a ton of support from fans and friends.
The 27-year-old singer’s Little Mix bandmates also sent their support to her on Instagram.
“My best friend talks about not only the struggles she went through personally which is heartbreaking but what young people experience everyday!” Perrie Edwards shared. “She’s the bravest bad ass I know. I’m beyond proud of you @jesynelson.”
Leigh-Anne Pinnock added, “I am beyond proud of this woman and the change she is going to make with this doc!”
“Couldn’t be prouder of my sister,” Jade Thirlwall started in her heartfelt post. “I’m grateful that she is finally able to tell her story and help so many others in doing so. And who better to create this when than @adambgoodall. So proud of you both. This is going to change people’s lives and hopefully people’s perspectives of the damage social media trolling can do. We’ll all be watching this tonight.”
There’s no word on when or if the documentary will premiere in the US yet.
Jesy Nelson is opening even more about her upcoming BBC Three documentary, Odd One Out.
In a brand new featurette, the 28-year-old Little Mix singer is explaining just why she chose to make the documentary.
“It’s me, telling my story of online trolling I suffered in the first five years of Little Mix,” she begins. “I think that everyone needs to know the effects of what online trolling can do to people and how bad it can really get.”
Jesy continued, “Social media is such a huge part of everyone’s lives [now]. You can say one nasty comment and think that no one will see it or it doesn’t mean anything, but it does. It effects people massively.”
Jesy Nelson is getting candid about her attempt to take her own life.
The 28-year-old Little Mix singer is opening up about the experience in her new Odd One Out documentary.
Jesy says after dealing with intense cyber bullying, she attempted suicide back in November of 2013. Thankfully, she was saved by her then-boyfriend who called an ambulance.
“I just remember thinking, ‘I just need this to go away, I’m going to end this,’” Jesy explained to The Sun.
She continued, “I remember going to the kitchen and just took as many tablets as I could. Then I laid in bed for ages and kept thinking, ‘Let it happen. Hurry up.’”
Thankfully, Jesy is on a much better path and now wants to help other people dealing with similar issues.
