Karan Brar Reveals Why 'Crazy Rich Asians' Means So Much To Him

Karan Brar is just one among the many who are praising Crazy Rich Asians, and rightfully so.

In a new Instagram, the Pacific Rim Uprising actor first pointed out that not only is it a film changing the narrative, but it also is a fantastic movie.

Karan went on to explain the special meaning the movie has for him: “Growing up in this industry I told myself as a kid that I’d always be a sidekick to the white guy. Not out of jealousy or hatred but simply because that’s what I felt like the rules of this industry were.”

“I felt like you were either a white leading man/woman or you’re the ethnic sidekick who makes jokes and tags along,” he continues. “To change this mentality took me a second but now it’s my driving force because I’m determined to prove that thought process wrong. Not just for me but for everyone else around me and for kids like me.”

“But what’s exciting about CRA is it’s a symbol of progress for this industry. It’s showing that there’s a change happening. Slowly but surely we’re getting to a place where regardless of your race, gender, or sexual orientation you can be the hero of a story. That there’s more than just one kind of story to be told.”

Karan adds that to see the change happening is exciting.

CRA is here to prove to the world that these stories deserved to be told, that you’re ethnicity/heritage is just as important, and more importantly- PEOPLE WANT TO HEAR THESE STORIES. It’s not just a movie- it’s a changing point.”

“Films like this are here to show a new generation of kids that they should never have to limit themselves and that their story is just as valued. So, if you can, go out and watch this movie. Not just to support representation but to support good storytelling. Oh! And one last thing, if anyone from CRA is reading this- thank you.”

Crazy Rich Asians is playing now in theaters.

Karan Brar, Eli Brown, Madison Iseman & More Join New Comedy Movie From Awesomeness Films

Karan Brar just booked his first post-Bunk’D gig!

The 19-year-old actor will be starring in AwesomenessTV’s The F*ck It List, according to Deadline.

Karan will join Eli Brown, Madison Iseman, Marcus Scribner, and King Bach, with Peter Facinelli, Laura Bell Bundy, Natalie Zea, Tristan Lake Leabu and Jerry O’Connell for the film.

It follows Brett Blackmore (Brown), an exemplary high school senior who is on a path for a future he’s not even sure he wants. When his senior prank goes horribly wrong, seven Ivy-League colleges pull their acceptances, and his future crumbles.

In frustration, and with nothing left to lose, he launches the F*ck-It List – all the things he wishes he’d done in high school but was too busy or afraid to try. The list goes viral, making him famous overnight and a beacon of hope for his peers.

This new found fame and influence prompts Brett to break free and make a run for a future of his own design.

Cameron Boyce & Karan Brar Used To Appear As Extras on Other Disney Shows

Surprise! We bet you didn’t know this about Cameron Boyce and Karan Brar before.

In his new interview with RAW, Karan admitted that he and on-screen bro/real life best friend Cameron used to “prank” other shows by just walking in on their sets.

“There’s been plenty of times where we’ve interrupted other people’s scenes, we’ve just walked in or something,” he shared.

Karan continued, “Sometimes we’d do that with our friend’s shows too, like Lab Rats was shooting right next door to us [Jessie]. We knew a lot of the crew and they were just like, ‘We’ll throw you guys in the background!’”

And what makes this hilariously amazing is that the other casts didn’t know at all!

“I don’t think the cast knew, so me and Cam were just two extras walking by and they were like, ‘What are y–what are you guys doing here?’ (laughs). So it’s nice that we can goof around too.”

We’re not sure if Karan and Cam actually made it on screen in the background of Lab Rats, but you can definitely search!
