'School of Rock' Actor Lance Lim Stars In New 'American Girl Story' Movie!

If you’ve ever watched School of Rock on Nickelodeon, you are already in deep like with Lance Lim.

But, did you know that he’s in a brand new movie, with Bunk’D‘s Nina Lu called An American Girl Story – Ivy & Julie 1976: A Happy Balance?!

In the new movie, which is available on Amazon Prime now, Ivy is forced to choose between her passion for gymnastics and her familial obligations when the big meet she’s excited for is scheduled on the same night as her family’s Chinese New Year dinner, while BFF Julie must deal with her parent’s not-so-cordial divorce.

“It was such a blast getting to work with so many talented Asian-American actors and taking on a different role,” Lance tells us of his part as Andrew Ling.

  • 1) I love swimming. Although I can’t go as often as I would love to anymore, it’s one of my secret hobbies.
  • 2) I know I play guitar on School of Rock and many people think I don’t play guitar in real life, but yes I do! It’s mostly what I do in my free time!
  • 3) Bowling is one of my great passions to do when I’m not working! I have my own bowling ball and everything!
  • 4) I discovered Michael Jackson when I was seven, which is what sparked my passion for singing at such a young age.
  • 5) My favorite food is sushi! I have loved it ever since I was young.
  • 6) I started acting when I was nine after a director scouted me at one of my musical performances at church.
  • 7) My favorite artist is John Mayer. He is an inspiration to me as an all-around musician.

    Lilimar made two new friends at the Kids’ Choice Awards tonight!

    The Nickelodeon actress bonded really quick with JJJ correspondents and social stars Gabi and Niki DeMartino!

    “@gabcake @nikidemar are literally the cutest little cubanitas I’ve ever met like…slay my vida plzz,” she wrote on Twitter after meeting the twins.

    Looks like they all bonded over their shared heritage! So cool!

    Lilimar was joined on the orange carpet by Lance Lim, Ricardo Hurtado, Haley Tju, Brandon Spink, Neel Sethi, and black-ish stars Miles Brown and Marsai Martin.

    FYI: Brandon wore a Diesel Black Label Runway blazer, Marc Jacobs shirt, Diesel Black pants and Comes de Garcon sneakers.

    We are falling even more in love with Auli’i Cravalho‘s style every time we see her!

    The Moana star joined other Asian-Americans at the 2016 Unforgettable Gala in Los Angeles over the weekend, including Krista Marie Yu, Albert Tsai, Lance Lim, Megan Lee, Ally Maki, and Hudson Yang.

    “Thrilled to be in attendance at the KORE Asian Unforgettable Media Event 2016!” Auli’i shares on Instagram. “So many men and women who are paving new ways in Media. I’m truly inspired.”

    K-pop group B.I.G. Im Jung Hoon, Bae Jae Wook, Lee Gun Min, Guk Min Pyo, and Yoo Hee Do – also hit the celebratory event.

    Nickelodeon Stars Give Back at Salvation Army's Feast of Sharing Holiday Dinner

    We are loving how big Nickelodeon stars hearts are!

    Game ShakersMadisyn Shipman joined School of Rock‘s Aidan Miner, Lance Lim and Ricardo Hurtado for Salvation Army’s Feast of Sharing Holiday Dinner in Los Angeles this week.

    Along with Casey Simpson and Legends of the Hidden Temple‘s Jet Jurgensmeyer, the group served meals to those in need.

    The 'School of Rock' Cast Plays Skeeball at HALO Awards 2016!

    We’re so jealous! The School of Rock cast got to play skeeball at the 2016 Nickelodeon Halo Awards tonight (November 11)!

    Stars Aidan Miner, Jade Pettyjohn, Lance Lim, Breanna Yde, and Ricardo Hurtado tried their hand at the popular carnival game during the event held in New York City before the ceremony.

    The event honored four regular kids — Chris Suggs, Jonas Corona, Lillian Pravda, and Grace Callwood — who are also young community leaders, changing the world by “Helping and Leading Others”.

    Jordyn Jones & Asia Monet Ray Perform at Skechers Pier To Pier Friendship Walk - See The Pics!

    Jordyn Jones hits the orange carpet at the 2016 SKECHERS Pier to Pier Friendship Walk held at Manhattan Beach Pier over the weekend in Manhattan Beach, Calif.

    Just after walking and posing for pics, the “I’m Dappin” singer hit the stage for a performance, along with New District and Asia Monet Ray.

    The event united over 12,000 people who joined together in support of the walk including Riele Downs, Cree Cicchino, Jailen Bates, Matthew Royer, Benjamin Royer, Benjamin Stockham, Aidan Miner, Lance Lim, and Albert Tsai.

    The SKECHERS Pier to Pier Friendship Walk successfully raised over $1.6 million and the monies will go to help even more families with special needs children and improve the public education system.
