Before the cover of Harry Styles‘ “Falling,” as part of the radio station’s Live Lounge series, Jesy – who has been very open about her battle with anxiety in the past – suffered a panic attack on-air that caused her to break into tears, unable to perform, as Perrie picked up the microphone and stepped in as bandmates comforted the star. The moment caused great concern on social media among fans.
“So my nerves got the better of me today and I had panic attack right before we were about to sing this for live lounge today and like a pro @perrieedwards jumped in for my part last minute and smashed it,” Jesy later wrote on her Instagram.
The next day, the ladies announced the exact premiere date for their upcoming singing competition series, Little Mix: The Search.
“We’re so excited to announce that @littlemixthesearch starts September 26th on BBC One and @bbciplayer 🎊. The talent on this show is UNREAL so we can’t wait for you to see it #LittleMixTheSearch,” they wrote on their band’s Instagram account, along with another sneak peek video.
The series centers around up and coming musical acts who will compete to become Little Mix’s opening act on an upcoming tour.
In case you missed it, Leigh-Anne is working on a documentary for BBC about racism and colorism in the UK.
“Travel with us to a spa on Mars. The Holiday video is out now 🧜â€â™€ï¸. So excited to share this video with you. We LOVE it and hope you do too ðŸ,” the girls wrote on Instagram.
“Holiday” was written by Jade, Perrie and Leigh-Anne with Kamille, and was produced by Goldfingers.
The girls then went on to change their name to Little Mix and eventually win the entire competition!
Now, Little Mix has become one of the top selling girl groups of all time, and are celebrating their nine year anniversary.
“Nine years ago today our lives changed forever. Doing what we love every day with each other has been beyond our wildest dreams. Thank you to each and every one of you that’s supported us along the way, we love you more than words â¤ï¸ #9yearsoflittlemix,” the band wrote on their Instagram page.
Leigh-Anne also shared her own post to celebrate.
“Happy Birthday to US!!! @littlemix 9 years of laughs, tears, incredible times, tough times, achievements, sisterhood, friendship and the most amount of fun you’ll ever imagine! @perrieedwards @jadethirlwall @jesynelson we’ve been through so much but we’ve always stuck together and when it’s all said and done we are sisters for life â¤ï¸,” she wrote.
The 28-year-old Little Mix singer will be tackling the subject of racism and colorism in the UK.
“I am so happy to finally reveal that I will be doing a documentary for @bbcthree about Racism and Colourism in the UK! These conversations need to be bought to a wider audience and I want to do all I can to stand up for my black and brown community! I cant say too much, but watch this space! 🖤🖤🖤,” she wrote on Instagram.
“Systemic racism is complex; through making this documentary I want to learn how I can best lend my voice to the debate so that the young people who look up to me won’t have to face what me and my generation have had to,” Leigh-Anne added, via BBC.
According to the network, Leigh-Anne will “further explore her own experiences, and talk about how having lighter skin and being a celebrity means she is sometimes said to be in a more privileged position than others.”
“By working with high profile talent like Leigh-Anne, and other important individuals she will meet through this process, we hope the honest conversations this film will feature will have the power to change attitudes, offer insight and help to prevent racism in our society,” BBC Three controller Fiona Campbell said.
“Our new single Holiday is out now ðŸŒ´â˜€ï¸ We’re so proud of this one… hope it takes you all on a much needed getaway,” they wrote on Instagram.
“The Holiday lyric video is out now 🎤 being back together (at a safe distance) to shoot this felt SO GOOD. 🹠Get your karaoke on, link in stories ☀︔ they added after the video came out.
“Feels like we’re long overdue a HOLIDAY 🧜â€â™€ï¸â˜€ï¸ pre-save link in bio 🌴” the wrote on Instagram, along with the single artwork.
Little Mix have been teasing the new track for the last few weeks by sharing photos of each of them on holiday, followed by a little teaser video.
The girls also just shared that their talent competition series, Little Mix The Search, will be premiering later this year, in the fall.
“That’s right, you heard it here first… @littlemixthesearch will be all yours this autumn on BBC One @bbciplayer #LittleMixTheSearch,” they captioned a teaser.
