Lilly Singh Opens Up About Being the Only Female Late Night Host

Lilly Singh is dishing on being the only female host of a daily late night show.

The 32-year-old host of A Little Late With Lilly Singh went on the Drew Barrymore Show and opened up about her historic feat.

“It’s exciting and humbling because obviously it’s a huge honor to be the first or only anything but I’d be lying if I said it didn’t come with a lot of pressure, a lot of critique, a lot of trying to meet people’s expectations,” Lilly said. “Really it’s just the journey of me learning how to be my authentic self, doing what I think serves me and my audience best and learning a whole new world. It’s a lot of everything, personally and professionally to be honest.”

Lilly also shared about her creative process and taking notes from others about her show.

“You know what for me it’s really important to take the reins of my creative because I do know I am a minority on screen, I have a very specific point of view and very specific voice and I want to make sure that comes through,” she said.

“However I have to balance that with being open to feedback and criticism. Especially, you know, I talk really fast, NBC comes to me and says slow down a little bit I need to not be a sensitive artist and go ‘Okay, that’s a good note,’” Lilly added. “It’s finding a balance between voice and being open to collaboration.”

You can catch Lilly on A Little Late with Lilly Singh weeknights at 1:35am ET/PT on NBC.

Lilly Singh Unveils 'A Little Late' Season 2 Promo Photo, Says The Show Will Look Different

Season two of Lilly Singh‘s late night talk show A Little Late with Lilly Singh is just around the corner!

The YouTube star and host revealed the new poster for the upcoming second season, which also features her dog Scarbro.

A Little Late will return with all new episodes on January 11, 2021, but it’s going to look pretty different.

“Season 2 premieres January 11th baby! And I’m so proud of what we’ve been doing!! Shooting a show during Covid is no easy task, especially when you’re a newer show with a smaller budget, on at 1:30am. I’m typing this with a nasal swab up my nose LOL,” Lilly wrote on Instagram.

“It’s been challenging but I’m excited to show you the BTS of a show during this time. I’m excited to show you how my crew and I will persevere. And I’m excited to show you the hustle and creativity that’s making it all work. So yeah, we’re smaller, but baby we got BIG HEART #SupportTheUnderdog tune in Jan 11! I’m ditching the desk. 💪🏽❤️ @latewithlilly (also how perfect is @scarbrothedawg) (also how perfect are those jalabis… I HAD TO)” she added.

Lilly‘s show will move from the traditional studio space, where season one took place, and move to a house, which reminds us of another YouTuber’s talk show, The Grace Helbig Show.

“During the first season of A Little Late, I was thrust into a whole new world that admittedly consisted of 90% learning and 10% being creative,” Lilly recently said, via Deadline. “For this second round, I know the ropes and plan to bring more of my creativity to the table. It’s time to get goofy, be imperfect and bring my full authentic self to late night.”

Tune in to season two of A Little Late with Lilly Singh, starting January 11th, at 1:35am ET/PT on NBC.

Lilly Singh Gets New Primetime Sketch Comedy Series at NBC!

Lilly Singh will be starring in a brand new two-part sketch series for NBC!

The YouTuber turned late night host’s new sketch comedy show, Sketchy Times with Lilly Singh, will be much like some of her YouTube videos, where she plays all of the characters in sketches.

Lilly will produce and film the episodes from home, with safety protocols in place and minimal crew.

“Ten years ago I started playing every character in my sketches because my friends were all ‘stop annoying us to be a part of your skits,’” Lilly said in a statement, via Variety. “With ‘Sketchy Times,’ I’m going to play every character because me, myself and I have been training for this moment.”

Each episode will feature a theme and even include some musical parodies as well, with the potential for more if the first two perform well.

“I’ve been preparing for this moment for the past ten years. This is the first step. Two-part series with @nbc and we’re talking Primetime baby! Produced by my company @unicornislandprod!” Lilly excitedly shared on Instagram.

“#SketchyTimes with Lilly Singh is my new sketch comedy show where I play every character. I’m very grateful to be able to create in.. well, some sketchy times. I think we all need a little laughter this year. 😊 And of course, as always, infinitely grateful to all of you for the support. Everyone I work with says the same thing: “your fans are incredible” and sis, I been knew. Let’s do this 💪🏽 #TeamSuperAllDay,” she added.

Earlier this year, it was announced that Lilly‘s late night NBC talk show, A Little Late With Lilly Singh, was renewed for a second season!
