Nickelodeon Greenlight's 'The Patrick Star Show,' Reveals First Look At His Family!

It’s official – Patrick Star is getting his own show!

Nickelodeon has just announced that The Patrick Star Show has been picked up for 13 episodes, and will premiere this summer.

The upcoming second SpongeBob Squarepants spinoff is a family sitcom starring Patrick and the rest of his family as they are constantly disrupted by Patrick’s wild whims and surreal imagination.

The original voice of Patrick, Bill Fagerbakke, will reprise his voice for young adult Patrick in the new series, with new cast members Tom Wilson as Cecil Star, Patrick’s fun-loving, happy-go-lucky dad who always puts his family first; Cree Summer as Bunny Star, Patrick’s loving, sea star mom who is a kooky oddball; Jill Talley as Squidina Star, Patrick’s eight-year-old little sister who sees herself as Patrick’s executive producer for his imaginary TV show; and Dana Snyder as GrandPat Star, Patrick’s genius grandpat, the most intelligent member of the Star family. Cree also voices Grandma Tentacles, Squidward’s grandma.

Other SpongeBob actors will reprise their roles as well – Tom Kenny (SpongeBob SquarePants), Rodger Bumpass (Squidward Tentacles), Carolyn Lawrence (Sandy Cheeks), Clancy Brown (Mr. Krabs) and Mr. Lawrence (Plankton).

“Nickelodeon is diving deeper into Bikini Bottom to give fans a look at our lovable young adult Patrick Star and his entire family with a sitcom only he could imagine up,” Ramsey Naito, President, Nickelodeon Animation, said. “This second original spinoff allows us to expand our reach, tell new stories and connect with our audience around the world who continue to love these characters.”

The Patrick Star Show follows a younger Patrick Star living at home with his family, where he hosts his own show for the neighborhood from his television-turned-bedroom. His little sister, Squidina, works behind the scenes to make sure Patrick’s show is always running smoothly, while his parents, Bunny and Cecil and his grandpa, GrandPat, each support Patrick in their own hilariously absurd ways.

The Star family’s unpredictable adventures often inform, integrate, and sometimes even interfere with Patrick’s TV show, but one thing is for sure: his bizarre life always makes for great television!

The new series joins the original series SpongeBob Squarepants, and the new spinoff Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years, which follows the SpongeBob characters as kids at summer camp. That series just premiered on the newly launched Paramount+!

A New 'Transformers' Series Is Coming to Nickelodeon!

An all new Transformers series is in the works!

The upcoming 26-episode, half-hour animated, action-comedy will premiere on Nickelodeon.

In the new series, a new species of Transformers must find their place and purpose among Autobots, Decepticons, and the human family that adopts them.

“As soon as I read the creative concept, which at its core is about family, I knew we absolutely had to tell this story with our good friends at eOne and Hasbro,” Ramsey Naito, President, Nickelodeon Animation, said in a statement. “The series will tell a reimagined story featuring both original characters and fan-favorites for a whole new generation of kids and families. The creative team at Nick, overseen by Claudia Spinelli, SVP of Animation Development, can’t wait to get started on building this new world.”

“We’re thrilled to be working with Nickelodeon to expand the Transformers animated universe and bring an all-new more than meets the eye story to life,” Olivier Dumont, eOne’s President of Family Brands, added. “This new series is a fresh creative take on the brand, which will excite longtime fans around the world and soon to be fans alike, all being introduced to the robots in disguise by an A list creative team led by eOne’s Mikiel Houser.”

Transformers was first launched by Hasbro in 1984 as a toy line and an animated series. Since then, it has become a mega franchise of toys, movies and TV shows. The most recent live action Transformers movie, Bumblebee, starred Hailee Steinfeld, and was released back in 2018.

Nickelodeon Launches Avatar Studios To Expand 'Avatar' Universe

Nickelodeon is ramping up it’s Avatar content!

It was just revealed that the network is launching Avatar Studios, which is “designed to create original content spanning animated series and movies based on the beloved world of Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra.”

Original creators and executive producers Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko will serve as co-chief creative officers with content going to Paramount+ and Nickelodeon’s linear and digital platforms.

The first project will be an animated feature length film, going into production this year.

“It’s hard to believe it’s been 19 years since we created Avatar: The Last Airbender. But even after all that time, there are still many stories and time periods in Aang’s world that we are eager to bring to life. We are fortunate to have an ever-growing community of passionate fans that enjoys exploring the Avatarverse as much as we do. And with this new Avatar Studios venture we have an unparalleled opportunity to develop our franchise and its storytelling on a vast scale, in myriad exciting ways and mediums,” Bryan and Michael said in a statement.

“We are exceedingly grateful to Brian Robbins and Ramsey Naito for their enthusiasm and respect for the Avatar property and us as its stewards. From the start, they’ve supported our ambitious plans and created a positive, proactive environment for us. We’re excited to be back at Nickelodeon where Avatar began, doing what we do best in the biggest way possible. We can’t wait to build the great teams and productions to make all of this fantasy a reality,” they added.

“Avatar: The Last Airbender and Korra have grown at least ten-fold in popularity since their original hit runs on Nickelodeon, and Ramsey Naito and I are incredibly excited to have Mike and Bryan’s genius talent on board to helm a studio devoted to expanding their characters and world into new content and formats for fans everywhere,” Brian Robbins, President, ViacomCBS Kids & Family, shared. “Creator-driven stories and characters have long been the hallmarks of Nickelodeon, and Avatar Studios is a way to give Mike and Bryan the resources and runway to open up their imaginations even more and dive deeper into the action and mythology of Avatar as we simultaneously expand upon that world and the world of content available on Paramount+ and Nickelodeon.”

'The Fairly Oddparents' & 'Dora The Explorer' To Get Live Action Series on Paramount+

New live action series are coming to Paramount+!

It was just revealed that both The Fairly Oddparents and Dora The Explorer will get brand new live action shows on the upcoming streamer.

Both shows have previously gotten the live action treatment, most recently with Isabela Merced starring in the 2019 film Dora and the Lost City of Gold.

Back in 2011, Daniella Monet and Drake Bell starred in A Fairly Odd Movie: Grow Up, Timmy Turner!

The Fairly Oddparents premiered in 2001 and followed 10-year-old Timmy Turner, who figures he finally has the upper hand when two fairy godparents, Cosmo and Wanda, appear unexpectedly on the scene. Fairy godparents help kids in need, and these two see Timmy as a client who fits the criteria. They constantly practice their craft on him and delight in playfully punishing his babysitting nemesis, 16-year-old Vicky, who turns mean as a snake the second Timmy’s parents leave.

Throughout his magical misadventures, and while exploring the big issues of being a kid–growing up, gaining independence, fitting in, being respected and finding the courage to do what’s right — Timmy’s eyes are opened to a couple of axioms: Be careful for what you wish for; and getting what you want won’t necessarily solve all your problems.

Dora The Explorer first premiered in 1999 following the adventures of Dora, a seven-year-old Latina heroine whose adventures take place in an imaginative, tropical world filled with jungles, beaches and rainforests. She’s joined by her monkey Boots and explores her world just as preschoolers do everyday, and the show is designed to actively engage its audience in an interactive quest using a variety of learning techniques.

In every episode, Dora and Boots invite the audience to participate in an exciting adventure, where each step of their journey consists of a problem or puzzle that Dora and the audience must think their way through in order to solve the next problem. Dora is proudly bilingual and uses her knowledge of English and Spanish to communicate with her friends, overcome obstacles and reach her goals.
