In a recent interview, Sharna opened up about what she does to relieve her foot pain she does get while performing in heels all the time.

“I’m used to it,” she confessed, before confessing that letting her feet soak or rolling a ball under them helps out.

Sharna adds, “I also get regular and proper, dig-your-elbow-in, dear-God-hold-onto-table massages. There’s nothing fun about them, but they are necessary.”

DWTS' Sharna Burgess Reveals The Biggest Things Pros Have to Learn Being on the Show: 'It's Not About You, It's About Them'

Sharna Burgess is such an amazing dancer – you know it, and we know it.

However, she doesn’t want you to just watch her dance – she wants you to watch her partner dance.

“That’s a big thing you have to learn when being a pro,” Sharna told EW in a new interview. “Because we are professional dancers, we can easily upstage our partners. Easily.”

She continues, “If you focus on your own dancing and not theirs, that essentially is what is going to happen. As a pro, you have to learn it’s not about you. It’s not about your dancing. It’s about you guiding and making sure they have got this and they are going to perform it to their best ability.”

“You have to find a balance between hyping them up, being excited and going full-out for them, and also taking a back seat enough so you allow them to shine.”

Sharna adds that most pros have an unspoken language with their partners for the season, and that’s what will help them succeed on the show.

“…You’ve got little reminders, little things throughout the dance to remind them to keep their posture up, keep their arms, whatever it is. We are focusing on that more than our own performance. You are kind of smiling and talking at the same time.”

Sharna and her partner, footballer Josh Norman, will be performing two dances tonight on Dancing With The Stars @ 8PM ET/PT on ABC.

Sharna Burgess, Witney Carson & More DWTS Pros Reveal Which Athletes They'd Love To Join The Show

The Dancing With the Stars cast announcement is only one week away and the pros are dishing about just which athletes they’d love to see on the shortened season.

Sharna Burgess, Alan Bersten, Witney Carson, Gleb Savchenko and Artem Chigvintsev all spoke to ET about which athletes they have their eye on.

For Alan, Gleb and Artem – they have their eyes on Olympians.

“I watched the Olympics this season, just because I was like, ‘A lot of these people might be on the show,’” Alan shared. “[Snowboarder] Chloe Kim looks awesome, and she has a really good personality, a really good energy, good spirit, so she’d be really cool.”

He also agrees with Gleb and Artem about having a figure skater for a partner.

Gleb shared, “I would love to have as a partner someone who has done something connected to music. Probably a figure skater. Someone young, someone with energy. And just someone really who wants to win. I need a mirrorball.”

Artem is also here for that mirrored ball: “A figure skater would be awesome. I’ll tell you, whoever will get me that mirrorball trophy, how about that?”

Meanwhile, Sharna and Witney are looking at other sports, like basketball and football.

Witney has her eyes set on basketball star LeBron James, and even named Adam Rippon as one of her dream people to join.

For Sharna, she’s hoping to be teamed up with another basketball player, like “Kobe Bryant, because, well… Kobe!,” or an NFL star.

“I think Colin Kaepernick has an incredible story to tell,” she adds. “Or Julian Edelman from the Patriots, because I may or may not have a little crush on him.”

The Dancing With The Stars cast and pro announcement will happen on April 13th, with the season premiering on Monday, April 30th on ABC.

DWTS' Sharna Burgess Reveals How She Refound Her Love For Dancing After An ACL Injury

Earlier this month, Hayley Erbert opened up about re-finding her love for dance and turns out, Sharna Burgess had to re-find her love too.

Speaking with NKD mag, the Dancing With The Stars pro recounted her journey to dancing stardom and along the way, opened up about how taking a break from the sport fueled her passion for it.

“I was training seven days a week, and by 15 I represented Australia in the international championships in Austria,” Sharna recalls after having logged more training hours than most her age at that time.

However, she still wanted to be a normal kid: “I remember being 15 and just wanting to be a normal kid, wanting to hang out at the shopping mall, go to the sleepover, go to the party — and I could never do it, because I was training seven days a week.”

It was then that her wish came true, although it was in the form of a painful injury that resulted in ACL reconstruction.

“Sometimes the universe gives you things in the most brutal of ways,” Sharna shared, “It really took its toll on me, but everything happens for a reason, and I spent two years being a normal kid, being a rebellious kid, doing everything I thought I wanted to do—and then I got to 17, 18, and looked around at the world, and thought, ‘No. I miss it.’”

Thankfully, she returned to the sport shortly after and from there, made her way to DWTS.

Sharna Burgess Suggests Digital Detox Days More Often

Sharna Burgess is opening up about he she lets go of all things digital for a digital detox day every so often.

The Dancing With The Stars pro wrote a blog post on her website about how she wants to start taking more of the days in 2018 to fill “your day with real things. Things that can better you.”

“Confession time! I’ll be the first to admit, social media can be a good thing, something I love most about it is being in touch with all of you!” she writes on her website. “Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, all serve a very real and valuable purpose if used responsibly, BUT like most good things, it’s not all good, all the time. Let’s be real with ourselves … we can get lost in there.”

“I decided to challenge myself to a day without social media more often,” Sharna continued. “Instead of thinking about it as giving something up for a day, I thought of it as what I could gain. I chose to listen and be mindful of my own thoughts and feelings. Social media has a way of flooding our brains with so many images and ideas that can often fill our head with a lot of negativity. I wanted to give myself a real break, and see how I’d feel if I put all that time spent on social media doing something else! Something that could actually improve me rather then something that could potentially drag me down.”

“With the holidays here and a new year approaching, I want to encourage you all to take a digital detox and see how you feel, filling your day with real things. Things that can better you. And whenever you choose to come back online, if you do ;) let me know what you learned and got out of it!”

Sharna Burgess Speaks Up For Nick Carter After Rape Allegations Against Him Surface

Sharna Burgess has opened up about her opinion of Nick Carter just after he was accused of rape by former Dream singer Melissa Schuman.

The DWTS pro came to Nick‘s defense after the allegations and wants all her fans to know that “this is not victim shaming, y’all know me and I would never. Just because I support Nick, doesn’t mean I don’t support female empowerment or #metoo. They are both movements that I am a part of, here for and proud of.”

During season 21 of Dancing With The Stars, when Sharna and Nick were partners on the show, she says that he was “definitely one of the most respectful guys that I’ve ever danced with on the show. So understanding of the difference between the character and the dance, and then the coach and the dance, all of the different levels of relationships that we have with our partners on the show.”

She continues, “From day one, he was just incredibly sweet and understanding of what it was that we had to do. He was very accepting of me bossing him around every day. …But what I loved about Nick, too, was that he always took ownership of the things that he’d been through – the darkness in his history, the mistakes that he’s made – he wanted to be very open about them
and how he felt about them.”

“Not once did he ever speak to anybody badly, demand anything, become a diva, show anything ugly other than just absolute gratitude for being there, for having made it that far, and just a passion for working hard and trying to do better.”
