Happy New Music Friday!!

This week, we have TWO end of the year surprise releases from Sofia Carson and Katherine McNamara.

Sofia debuted her new song and music video, “Hold on to Me,” while Katherine pulled another song out of her archives, “Making a Monster Out of Me.”

“I wanted to share one last song with you this year. A song that reminds us to hold onto each other with all our hearts, to hold on to hope. But most of all, I just hope it makes you smile. “When it feels like you’ve been falling, hold on to me…” I love you always, Your Sofia 🤍,” Sofia shared on Instagram.

“Surprise (again) 🎙 – another tune from the archives recorded years ago . #MakingaMonsterOutofMe,” Katherine wrote on her account. “When there are such astronomical extenuating circumstances, it can be easy to let external influences affect who we are and who we become. Even when the world isn’t upside down, one can become lost in a situation, a person, or even a time when life seems to spin out of control. In those moments, it’s important to acknowledge that and remember who you are at your core.”

“Life can take us for a ride and seem to turn us into someone we don’t recognize,” she continued. “We all have a choice to make as to the person we want to be and the influence we want to have on those around us. No matter what sort of monster you may be facing, it’s never to late to find your strength and your light and choose to do better. So enjoy the tune, get on your feet, and shake off those monsters. We also have a new duet from Tori Kelly and JoJo, who teamed up for a rendition of Aretha Franklin‘s “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” for Global Citizen’s upcoming album, STAND UP.

Why Don’t We premiered the music video for their latest new track “Slow Down,” Julie and the Phantoms star Jeremy Shada debuted his new song “Will They Won’t They,” and Scotty Sire released a new holiday song, “25 Christmas Trees,” with Toddy Smith.

Sofia Carson revealed that there was almost a chance that she wasn’t in the Descendants movies!

In a new interview on Chicks In The Office, the 27-year-old Songbird actress shared that after doing a guest star spot on Austin & Ally, she had an audition for another Disney Channel series, and if she got that role, she couldn’t have been able to make it to her audition for Descendants.

“That opened the door to everything, and it actually happened shortly after Austin & Ally, because I remember I shot Austin & Ally over the summer, and I think my first audition for Descendants was that fall,” Sofia said. “Disney Channel, the casting world had already kind of gotten to know me a little bit, but when I was up for my first role for Descendants, I didn’t get it.

“It was not until I think February, I was up for a role on Liv and Maddie, another guest starring role, and I got sick,” she continued. “And for some reason, I couldn’t do the guest starring role, and that was the reason I was able to go to the Descendants callback.”

“It was this whole weird thing that have I gotten the Liv and Maddie role, I wouldn’t have been able to be cast as Evie.”

We are so glad that Sofia was able to make her Descendants callback!!

Sofia Carson looked so amazing at the premiere of her new movie, Songbird on Friday (December 11) in Beverly Hills, Calif.

The 27-year-old actress stepped out for the private premiere in a gorgeous Prada gown with Graziela Gems jewelry.

Sofia recently opened up about how she and co-star KJ Apa were able to write Nico and Sara’s love story together in a new interview.

“One of my favorite things that I got to do in the role — and that’s thanks to our director, Adam Mason — [was that] he wanted us — KJ and I — to have a voice in Nico and Sara,” Sofia explained. “So, he didn’t tell us who Sara and Nico were [before the events of the film] — he wanted us to write their story.”

She adds that “before we started shooting, I sat down that weekend and I wrote Sara’s story from start to finish. Where she was born, who her mother was, her relationship with her mom, what her fears are, how she met Nico — everything that made Sara who she is in order to bring her to life.”

“We got together that weekend, that Saturday, and we spent the whole day bringing our love story to life: the first moment Sara and Nico met, the thing about Sara that made Nico fall for her — someone he’s never seen, only someone he’s heard through the door,” she continued.

Maddie Ziegler, Sabrina Carpenter, and Sofia Carson are among the stars who are looking so chic at the 2020 MTV Movie & TV Awards: Greatest of All Time, which are airing right now on Sunday night (December 6).

Instead of having a normal awards show this year, MTV decided to honor the biggest and best moments in film and TV from the 80s until now. The 90-minute special has live presenters, but nearly all of the winners so far are accepting via satellite.

Maddie, Sabrina, and Sofia are all presenting at the event and other presenters who were there included Peyton List and Cobra Kai stars Xolo Maridueña and Jacob Bertrand.

Ally Brooke wears all white at the 2020 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, which aired on Thursday morning (November 26) from New York City.

The 27-year-old “Baby, I’m Coming Home” singer joined Blue on the Blue’s Clues float, where she sang the show’s theme song.

If you remember, over the summer Ally made an appearance on Blue’s Clues during the Sing-Along Spectacular!

Also hitting up the parade was Sofia Carson, who performed her latest single “Guess I’m A Liar” on the Entenmann’s float. In case you missed them, check out the photos filming earlier in the week!

Country star Lauren Alaina performed on the South Dakota float and Latin band CNCO joined the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles float for the annual parade.

The 27-year-old entertainer wore a clear face shield during some parts, as she stood next to an Entenmann’s float.

Sofia is one of many performers who are slated for the annual event, which has taken a different approach due to the pandemic this year.

Also performing at the parade include Ally Brooke, Pentatonix, Lauren Alaina, Dolly Parton, Tori Kelly, Keke Palmer, CNCO, Karol G, Bebe Rexha and more.

The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade has been reimagined to be virtual this year, and has cut the number of participants drastically. The parade will still feature many floats, music performances, street performers and all the things fans love about it. It will just look a little different, and with quite a few pre-taped performances and segments.

This week, stars like Demi Lovato, Gabriel Conte and Sofia Carson all have new songs and albums out.

Demi is featured alongside Lil Duval on the new track “My Reputation” by Jeezy, from his new album The Recession 2.

Gabriel just dropped his debut album Belong, which features 10 new tracks, including the previously released “Los Angeles” and “Wrong With Me.”

Sofia is back with an extended Tracy Young remix of her recent single “Guess I’m a Liar,” which will definitely make you want to get up and dance!

Other artists with new songs out this week include Payton Moormeier, CNCO, Sam Smith, Keiynan Lonsdale and Spencer Barnett. Lana Condor also just released her new music video for her song “For Real.”
