Storm Reid Celebrated The New Movie 'Yes Day' By Donating To Local Ice Cream Shops

Storm Reid gave a bunch of people the gift of ice cream this weekend!

In celebration of the new Netflix family comedy Yes Day, the 17-year-old actress and Ludacris donated to local Black and Latinx-owned ice cream shops on Sunday (March 14).

Each shop, in LA (@Happyice), New York (@mikeylikesiticecream), Atlanta (@sweetstackcreamery), and Miami (@azucaricecream), surprised customers with free custom sundaes for the entire day to give customers their own #YESDAYSundae.

“Our family always says YES to an ice cream party! I’m partnering with @netflixfamily in celebration of the launch of their new movie #YESDAY by donating to my favorite local ice cream shop @happyice. Check them out and be sure to tag #YESDAYChallenge #YESDAYsundae with your own favorite ice cream sundae. ✨🍨,” Storm shared on Instagram, along with a little video.

'Euphoria' Is Heading Back Into Production In April, Casting New Lead Character!

Euphoria is preparing to get back to work!

It was just revealed that the hit HBO series will likely be resuming production in April for season two.

According to a new casting notice, the show is looking to cast a brand new lead role with a character named Jamieson, who is described as a 17-year-old black male. Characteristics include an outsider, might have a drug problem, might not, mischievous, funny, unafraid and sensitive.

In the notice, it also reveals that those submitting themselves for the role, must be ready to start production on April 5th in Los Angeles.

This would put production back on over a year after it was shut down due to the pandemic.

The cast sat down for the first table read of the season on March 11th, then three days later, it was revealed they had to shut down. Production resumed on the show briefly later in the year, with only a few characters for two special episodes that revolved around Zendaya‘s Rue and Hunter Schafer‘s Jules.

Storm Reid has landed a new movie role!

The 17-year-old has been cast in the upcoming action thriller One Way, alongside Kevin Bacon, Machine Gun Kelly and Travis Fimmel.

Here’s a synopsis: Freddy (MGK) goes on the run with a bag full of cash after a robbery of his former crime boss goes wrong. With a potentially fatal wound, he slips onto a bus headed into the unrelenting California desert.

After a call for help, Freddy’s estranged father (Bacon) betrays him, notifying the crime boss where he is. With his life slipping through his fingers, Freddy is left with very few choices to survive. There is only ONE WAY.

Also joining the cast include Drea de Matteo, Meagan Holder, Thomas Francis Murphy, Luis Da Silva Jr, Rhys Coiro, Danny Bohnen, Scotty Bohnen, and MGK‘s daughter Casie Colson Baker.

“I was looking for a young actress with the same power and talent as Jodie Foster in Taxi Driver. When my producing partner, Martin Brennan showed me Storm, I knew right away we found her,” director Andrew Baird said in a statement. “To round out the cast with such great and seasoned talents as Drea, Meagan, Luis and Rhys and the rest of them; I feel extremely lucky. I take great care in casting and this truly is and exceptional ensemble.”

Filming is currently underway in Georgia.

Storm Reid is one of the new icons for Miu Miu‘s 2020 holiday campaign!

The 17-year-old Euphoria actress joins fellow newcomers Emma Corrin and Jordan Kristine Seamón, as well as Kim Basinger, Chloë Sevigny, Raffey Cassidy and Du Juan.

According to the press release, Miu Miu ‘Icons’ centers around the notion that an icon can be an actor, a model, a musician equally as it can represent a set of beliefs or a way of life.

Miu Miu regards ‘Icons’ as a myriad of women who reflect the ever-shifting idea and ideals of fashion. Miu Miu women are diverse role-models, icons for women of all ages.

Storm Reid Calls Zendaya Her 'Bonus Big Sister' In New Interview

Storm Reid is gushing on her friendship with Zendaya!

The two co-star in the HBO series Euphoria, where they play sisters Rue and Gia.

For her November cover story of InStyle magazine, Storm gushed about Zendaya and how she looks up to her.

“I’ve been a fangirl of hers since the beginning of time, and now she’s like my bonus big sister,” Storm told the mag. “She’s so genuine, and whether I need advice about ‘growing up in Hollywood,’ as they say, or just advice as a teenage girl trying to figure out life, she’s always a phone call away.”

She also opened up about how she picks her roles to help create change with more representation.

“The projects I choose to be part of are very intentional,” Storm shared. “I see each one as an opportunity to have a progressive conversation and represent people and situations that are underrepresented. Young girls deserve to see themselves onscreen. Because how can you feel like you’re able to succeed when you don’t see yourself succeeding?”

Storm Reid had the best reaction to her Euphoria co-star Zendaya‘s 2020 Emmy Awards win!

The 17-year-old actress plays the 24-year-old’s younger sister on the show.

In a new video posted to Instagram, Storm can be seen watching the nominees being announced before the winner. She then screams and jumps up and down when Zendaya‘s name is called for the win.

“OMGGGGGGG CRYING IN THE CLUB 😭😭😭 CONGRATS @zendaya ✨💕,” she captioned the video.

Zendaya, Lil Nas X, Marsai Martin & More Nominated For BET Awards 2020!

The nominees for the 2020 BET Awards were announced this week!

The annual awards show celebrates African Americans and other American minorities in music, acting, sports, and other fields of entertainment over the past year.

Among this year’s nominees include Zendaya for Best Actress, Lil Nas X for Best New Artist, Chloe x Halle, who will also performing, for Best Group, and Marsai Martin, Miles Brown and Storm Reid for the Young Stars Award.

Drake, Lizzo, Travis Scott, Beyonce, The Weeknd, Issa Rae, Tracee Ellis Ross, and Asantee Black are also among the nominees.

The BET Awards will be taking place virtually of course, with BET announcing in a statement, “Using an array of innovative techniques and artist-generated content, the show will continue, allowing the audience to join in a celebration of black love, joy, pride and power with an all-star lineup.”

This year’s ceremony will take place on June 28th, airing across ViacomCBS networks including BET, BET HER, and making it’s broadcast debut on CBS, starting at 8pm ET/PT.
