Laurie Hernandez gets dipped by partner Val Chmerkovskiy during the Dancing With The Stars event held at Planet Hollywood in New York City on Wednesday (September 7).
The 16-year-old Olympic gymnast spoke to People at the event, brushing off the comments about taking a break after competing in the Olympics.
“I don’t need a break,” Laurie said and adding how she found out she would be competing this season: “I remember having a workout at the Olympics and my coach was like, ‘Oh yeah, by the way, you’re doing Dancing with the Stars, and so I was freaking out.”

The 16-year-old Olympic gymnast brought in a stack of pizzas, crashing Simone‘s interview with Robin Roberts alongside Michael Strahan.
Earlier in the morning, Laurie made an appearance with her Dancing With The Stars cast mates Jake T. Austin, Calvin Johnson, Marilu Henner, Maureen McCormick, Amber Rose, Terra Jole, Rick Perry, Vanilla Ice, James Hinchcliffe, Jana Kramer, Ryan Lochte, and Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds.

Kym Johnson and her new husband (and former celeb partner) Robert Herjavec also stopped by the workshop after tying the knot earlier in the month.

The two pro dancers danced to “From The Ground Up” by Dan + Shay, who were on hand to perform the magical song.

Earlier this week, Artem joined Torrey at the Philosophy Hope & Grace Luncheon for Mental Health Month on Thursday in Los Angeles.
