Miles is defending the film against some of the negative reviews it has received.
“We tried to make something coming from a more dramatic standpoint so we’re hoping that people enjoy it and recognize that we’re trying to do something original,” Miles told BBC Newsbeat.
“Rarely are films of this size critically well received… This is not a movie we’re going to go on Rotten Tomatoes and it’s going to be at 80 or 90 percent,” he added. “We did try to do something more than soulless, popcorn action.”
Michael B. Jordan and Kate Mara are sandwiched in between their co-stars while attending the Brooklyn premiere of Fantastic Four on Tuesday (August 4) in New York City.
It is expected that Fantastic Four debuts at the box office this weekend with $45 million to beat out the competition, according to Variety.

Michael B. Jordan is all smiles while stopping by the Univision Studios for a talk show appearance on Friday (July 31) in Miami, Fla.
The 28-year-old actor was joined for the appearance by his Fantastic Four co-stars Kate Mara and Jamie Bell.
Earlier in the week, Michael and Kate did an interview for a radio station and were asked about their characters Johnny Storm and Sue Storm being siblings. “From what I’ve seen, you’re brother and sister. Am I missing something?” an interviewer asked them.
When they said “no,” the reporter said, “But you’re white and you’re black. How does that happen?”
Michael gave a perfect response (via Buzzfeed): “They could be raised as brother and sister. There’s a whole bunch of family dynamics that could be without the ‘obvious adoption.’”

During the chat held at 2015 Comic-Con, Miles revealed he didn’t think playing a superhero would be in his future.
Miles explained, “I kind of joked around a couple years ago saying I’ll do a superhero movie at some point and then Spider-Man came and went and I thought that was it.”
