Gabby Barrett Had To Convince Fans Her New Song 'I Hope' Wasn't About Fiance Cade Foehner

Gabby Barrett gives a kiss to fiance Cade Foehner on the red carpet at the 2019 CMT Music Awards held at Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday night (June 5) in Nashville, Tenn.

The 19-year-old and -year-old American Idol alums looked so cute at the event together.

Speaking with People recently, Gabby opened up about how her newest song, “I Hope” came about and how she still has to tell fans it’s not about Cade.

“It’s never someone specific. It’s more like I see a compilation of guys in my head,” Gabby shared. “Sometimes, it’s guys that my friends or my fans have told me about that did them wrong. The faces I see are always different.”

She added that she has “so many fans come up to me and say, ‘Please don’t let this song be about Cade.’ I can guarantee that this song isn’t about him.”

FYI: Gabby wore a Jovani jumpsuit with Gabriel NY and Liven Co. jewelry.

American Idol's Gabby Barrett & Cade Foehner Are Engaged!

Congrats to Gabby Barrett and Cade Foehner – they just got engaged!

The couple, who met on while competing on American Idol in season 1 on ABC, revealed their engagement with People magazine.

“I did not see this coming,” Gabby shared with People about how Cade proposed while they revisited the room where they first met during their Idol days.

She added about her first impression of Cade, “I thought he was cute, but I didn’t think there was going to be anything that came out of it.

“Her love for God — that rocked my world from the start,” Cade added. “Her humility and who she is as a woman is wrapped up in her beliefs in God. Having that pushes you to want to be humble and want to live a life like Christ. She’s absolutely captivating. I’ve known for quite a while that I want to spend my life with her. I could literally stare in her eyes for a million years and could not get tired of that.”

Another couple was born from the first season of American Idol, too – winner Maddie Poppe and runner up Caleb Lee Hutchinson.
