Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling has launched a new website for all things HP for your social distancing needs.
“Parents, teachers and carers working to keep children amused and interested while we’re on lockdown might need a bit of magic, so I’m delighted to launch http://harrypotterathome.com,” JKtweeted out on Wednesday morning (April 1).
“We know that everyone is trying to keep safe at home at the moment and so, with J.K. Rowling and our friends at Audible, Bloomsbury, OverDrive, Pottermore Publishing and Scholastic, we are delighted to introduce Harry Potter At Home to help children, parents, carers and teachers add a touch of Harry Potter magic to our new daily lives,” the site reads.
The new site houses so many Harry Potter treats to keep you occupied, including “special contributions from Bloomsbury and Scholastic, nifty magical craft videos (teach your friends how to draw a Niffler!), fun articles, quizzes, puzzles and plenty more for first-time readers, as well as those already familiar with the wizarding world.”
Tom played Draco Malfoy in the films, while Jason portrayed his father Lucius Malfoy.
The two called each other to catch up while social distancing in their respective homes, and Jason posted their video chat on Instagram on Friday (March 27).
“That doesn’t look like someone that is in quarantine,” Jason said to Tom, who was hanging out outside during the sunny weather. “That looks like somebody out in the beautiful Los Angeles countryside.â€
“That kinda is our quarantine, really,†Tom Felton explained. “We’re just hanging out in the garden.â€
Jason shared, “We’ve got a house and we’ve got food so that puts us a million times better than people who don’t have anywhere to live and don’t have anything to eat and don’t have any money, and all the people who are sick or dying so can’t complain.”
“But f–k, it’s weird and scary is what it is,†Jason Isaacs added.
Daniel Radcliffe shared some funny stories during his recent appearance on the Graham Norton Show this week.
The 30-year-old actor reunited with his Harry Potter co-star Miriam Margoyles, who played Professor Sprouts in the first and last movies.
“There’s been lots of odd moments,” Daniel shared while talking about the HP notoriety throughout his life. “I was once chased out of a science museum in Spain.”
He continued, “It was fine ebcause everything was in Spanish and I couldn’t understand anything inside so I was trying to leave anyway.”
That story turned into another one, where Daniel was actually mistaken for a homeless man while out in New York City!
“I was in New York recently with my girlfriend and while she was in a shop, I was outside with our foster dog,” Daniel explained. “It was very cold, and I had on a hoodie, a fleece and then a big coat over the top.”
He adds, “Because it was so cold, I knelt down to warm the dog and I saw this guy looking at me and then he walked past me, but then he came back and handed me five dollars and said, ‘Get yourself a coffee mate.’ Apparently, I need to shave more often!”
Warner Bros. has announced some super cool news that Harry Potter fans are going to love!
A Harry Potter flagship store, which will span three floors and over 20,000 square feet, is set to open in New York City in summer 2020. The store will be located next to the iconic Flatiron building at 935 Broadway.
“This will be the largest dedicated Harry Potter store in the world and will become a must-visit fan destination where Harry Potter enthusiasts can engage with interactive experiences and numerous photo opportunities as they step into the magic,” Sarah Roots, SVP Worldwide Tours and Retail for Warner Bros., said in a statement.
The store will house the largest collection of Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts products in the world under one roof with everything from personalized robes and Bertie Bott’s Every Flavor Beans to a brand-new range of house wands with a design exclusive to the New York location.
The 32-year-old actor recently opened up about the idea of a new take on the series.
“I don’t think Jo [Rowling] would want her films, her books rather and her films, to be remade anytime soon, but I’m sure in 20 years when they’ve got 4D, scratch-and-sniff cinemas, or whatever, then they’ll want to do it all over again,” he said.
“My hope is that when they do it I’ll be old enough to play Lucius! Give it another 15 years and I’ll come back and play Lucius. I would do it in a heartbeat,” Tom added.
