Little Mix's Jesy Nelson Reflects On How She Perceived Herself & Opens Up About Self Care

Little Mix's Jesy Nelson Reflects On How She Perceived Herself & Opens Up About Self Care

Jesy Nelson is getting candid with her fans on Instagram, revealing that she saw herself as “the fate one” from Little Mix.

In her latest Instagram, the 28-year-old singer revealed that since working on her mental health documentary with BBC, she’s been reflecting on her own journey.

“6 months ago this girl was someone I just wanted to forget. I wanted to erase her from my mind and everyone else’s memory,” she shared with a throwback pic of herself from an appearance. “I didn’t see her as Jesy I saw her as ‘the fat one from Little Mix.’”

She continues, “Up until now, I hated her not because she’d ever done anything bad but because I was made to hate her by endless amounts of trolling. Since filming my documentary for @bbcone and @bbcthree, I’ve learned so much more than I ever expected to.”

“Thanks to all the inspirational people I’ve met on this emotional journey, I now love the girl in this photo,” she wrote. “I’ve made this documentary for 2011 Jesy and for anyone who might be feeling like she did. I refused to speak about how I was feeling for so long. I was embarrassed and scared to. But I was so wrong to feel that way. Please if you are feeling how I did, SPEAK ABOUT IT. Talk to your family, speak to your friends, there’s always help out there.”

Jesy added, “If you’d have told that girl one day you won’t feel sad anymore, I’d never have believed you….and here I am. Now when I look in the mirror, I don’t see Jesy the fat one, I see Jesy the happy one!”

Her documentary is expected to be out later this year.

Little Mix Share Their Advice for Picking Yourself Up on Your Worst Days!

Little Mix are all about spreading positivity.

The British girl group sat down with Marie Claire UK to talk about spreading love to others and, maybe even more importantly, how to spread that same love and support to yourself when you’re feeling down.

“Pay a compliment to someone when they least expect it,” Jesy Nelson suggested when asked about how to spread good vibes to others. “I think it’s so nice if you genuinely see someone in the street and you think, ‘oh, she’s pretty’, or I like her hair, you should say it. Because they could be having the sh****est day ever and by telling them you could completely change their day and mindset.”

Even more important, sometimes, is spreading those same good vibes to yourself when you’re having a bad day.

“I think we’re so critical! Do you know what I find really helpful? One day, I had a really bad day, and I was looking in the mirror and I was like, ‘You’re beautiful,’” Leigh-Anne Pinnock said, when asked about self-care.

“This is the problem with our brains: when you’re having a sh*t day, you make such a thing of it, thinking ‘I’m having a shit day, my skin’s awful,’ this and that,” Perrie Edwards added. “But when you’re having a good day, you don’t make the most of it, you don’t embrace it, and you don’t compliment yourself. If I feel good I’m like, ‘god you’re a peng ting, mate,’ and then other days, I’m like, ‘You’re hideous.’ You just go through the motions. But like Leigh-Anne said, you have to make yourself feel special because if you don’t, who will?”

Little Mix are answering the internet!

The British girl group sat down to answer questions from fans during a recent stop at Hits Radio in a video posted on Wednesday (June 19).

Jade Thirlwall, Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and Jesy Nelson opened up about everything from their dreams of having a TV show of their own to the possibility of a collaboration with none other than pop legend Ariana Grande.

“All I want is Little Mix x Ariana, is it too much to ask???” one fan asked via Twitter for the Q&A.

“NO! It’s not too much to ask! We’ll make it happen,” Leigh-Anne shouted in response.

Perrie emphatically agreed, adding, “That would be SO good!”

“We should put this message in a bottle in the sea!” Jade suggested.

“We love Ariana, she’s everything,” Perrie said, summing up the group’s feelings about working with Ariana in the future.
