Hilary Duff is still working on the Lizzie McGuire reboot!

The 32-year-old star opened up to Cosmo about how she’s still working with the team to get the show to move forward.

“I’m still talking to [the team] weekly, I don’t know,” Hilary said. “They were shooting and then everything was put on hold. And we’re just kind of figuring out if we can make this happen.”

Hilary then talked about some of the cast that are returning, and one character who probably won’t be included.

“There were plans for a lot of people to be in the show,” she continued. “So, um, I already know some of those things but I don’t know about Paolo. I think she’d probably be pretty mad to see him.”

There’s more hope for Hilary Duff‘s Lizzie McGuire reboot!

Despite production on the series being put on pause earlier this year, the show’s writers just reunited for a video chat!

The call included creator and showrunner, Terri Minsky, who reportedly left the project due to creative differences.

Terri and Hilary had come into conflict with Disney+, who allegedly wanted to keep the show more family-friendly than the duo.

Several of the writers shared screenshots of the call on Instagram, writing comments like, “Lizzie McGuire reboot bunch,” “Still figuring it out on the way,” and “Will conquer my virtual meeting anxiety for this special brunch.”

Earlier this year, Hilary expressed interest in working on the show with Hulu. Here’s to hoping it’s a possiblity!

The First Script for the 'Lizzie McGuire' Reboot Was Revealed

The First Script for the 'Lizzie McGuire' Reboot Was Revealed

Fans are finally finding out some central plot points from the Lizzie McGuire reboot that was recently put on hold.

The script for the first episode, which was obtained by THR, “acknowledges the existence of sex with cheating as a central plot point.”

The more mature plot line aligns with Hilary Duff‘s statement that inferred that Disney+ didn’t want to move forward unless the show had a PG rating.

“I’d be doing a disservice to everyone by limiting the realities of a 30 year old’s journey to live under the ceiling of a PG rating. It’s important to me that just as her experience as a preteen / teenager navigating her life were authentic, her next chapters are equally as real and relatable,” Hilary wrote.

Another Disney+ show was just moved to Hulu due to the subject matter.

“It would be a dream if Disney would let us move the show to Hulu, if they were interested, and I could bring this beloved character to life again,” she added.

'Lizzie McGuire' Creator Terri Minsky Hopes The Show Will Move To Hulu - Here's Why

'Lizzie McGuire' Creator Terri Minsky Hopes The Show Will Move To Hulu - Here's Why

We have new information about the Lizzie McGuire reboot after star Hilary Duff spoke out.

Creator Terri Minsky, who left the series over creative differences with Disney, is speaking out about the concept of the show.

“I am so proud of the two episodes we did,” she told Variety. “Hilary has a grasp of Lizzie McGuire at 30 that needs to be seen. It’s a wonderful thing to watch. I would love the show to exist, but ideally I would love it if it could be given that treatment of going to Hulu and doing the show that we were doing. That’s the part where I am completely in the dark. It’s important to me that this show was important to people. I felt like I wanted to do a show that was worthy of that kind of devotion.”

Sources also told the publication that Hilary is “none too happy with the Mouse House for firing Terri. The two women wanted to do a more adult version of Lizzie for the revival, while Disney wants a show that would appeal to kids and families, something more akin to the original series.”

A Disney spokesperson reassured that they have every intention of moving forward with the reboot.

“We paused production on Lizzie McGuire a few weeks ago to allow time for some creative re-development,” they told Variety. “Our goal is to resume production and to tell an authentic story that connects to the millions who are emotionally invested in the character, and a new generation of viewers too.”

We REALLY, REALLY hope that Lizzie McGuire will resume production soon!
