Tom Holland Is Getting Started On 'Spider-Man 3', Won't Reveal Anything: 'I've Learned My Lesson'

Tom Holland is about to start suiting up as Spider-Man again!

The 24-year-old actor shared on his Instagram story on Sunday night (October 25) that he is in Atlanta, Ga, to start filming the third Spider-Man movie.

The next day, he shared more on his story that he received the script, and he’s about to reading it!

“Hey, so, I just got home and I’m in Atlanta. I’ve just been delivered a package. That package is an iPad, and on that iPad is a script,” Tom said.

“And that script is Spider-Man 3, so I’m about to find out what I’m going to be doing for the next five months,” he continued. “I’m not going to tell you anything about it, because I’ve learned my lesson.”

Earlier this year, Spider-Man 3‘s release date was pushed back by a few months. Find out when it’s being released!

Past Spider-Man actors Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield are rumored to have joined the cast to reprise their versions for a live action Spider-Verse.

Tom just finished filming Uncharted in Berlin and headed straight to Atlanta to begin on the next Sony/Marvel Spider-Man film. Check out the first look at his character Nathan Drake!

Andrew Garfield & Tobey Maguire Rumored To Join Tom Holland In 'Spider-Man 3'

There’s a major rumor that could bring THREE Spider-Man actors together in one movie!

Tom Holland is of course reprising his role in an upcoming third Spider-Man movie for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

FandomWire reports that both Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire have signed on to return as their versions of the webbed superhero!

Andrew most recently played Peter Parker/Spider-Man in The Amazing Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in 2012 and 2014. Tobey famously brought Spider-Man and Peter Parker to life in his early 2000s Spider-Man trilogy.

While Andrew and Tobey‘s casting is just a rumor with no official confirmation, it is to be noted that other characters from their movies are set to appear in the upcoming Spider-Man 3 with the MCU.

Jamie Foxx‘s Electro, from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 with Andrew, is set to make an appearance, as was announced a couple of weeks ago.

Back in July, JK Simmons, who portrayed J. Jonah Jameson in Tobey‘s Spider-Man series, said that he would appear in a Spider-Man movie yet again, after surprising fans in the end credits of Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man: Far From Home.

This would mark a historic moment for a live action Spider-Verse film. We previously got multiple Spider-Mans in the 2018 animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

The Third 'Spider-Man' Movie Has Been Pushed Back

The Third 'Spider-Man' Movie Has Been Pushed Back

The next Spider-Man movie has been given a new release date once again!

The third installment, starring Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Jacob Batalon, was originally set to come out in July 2021, but was pushed to November 2021 due to the pandemic.

Now, the film will be released around Christmas-time, on December 17, 2021, Variety reports.

The Marvel/Sony Pictures movie took up the date that was previously taken by the long-awaited Avatar sequel, which was also pushed back by a year.

Fans weren’t sure if another movie would be released as Disney and Sony had decided to split and not work together on another film. Luckily, the two studios finally reached an agreement.

Spider-Man will also appear in future Marvel films.

“I am thrilled that Spidey’s journey in the MCU will continue, and I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it. Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe. He also happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spidey-verse you never know what surprises the future might hold,” Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige previously said.

Everyone has been so upset this week over the news that Spider-Man is leaving the Marvel Cinematic Universe and now Tom Holland is breaking his silence to talk about the future of the beloved character.

The 23-year-old actor will still play Spider-Man, but he won’t be part of the other Marvel movies like he has in the past.

“Basically, we’ve made five great movies,” Tom said in an interview with People/EW. “It’s been five amazing years. I’ve had the time of my life. Who knows what the future holds? But all I know is that I’m going to continue playing Spider-Man and having the time of my life. It’s going to be so fun, however we choose to do it. The future for Spider-Man will be different, but it will be equally as awesome and amazing, and we’ll find new ways to make it even cooler.”

While on stage for the Onward panel at D23 on Saturday (August 24), Tom began to tear up and he told the audience, “It’s been a crazy week but I want you all to know from the bottom of my heart, I love you 3000.”

If you saw Avengers: Endgame, then you know how “I love you 3000″ is one of the most iconic lines from the film.

Tom Holland's Role in Marvel Cinematic Universe Is Likely Over

Tom Holland's Role in Marvel Cinematic Universe Is Likely Over

We have some good news and some bad news for you. To start with the good news, Tom Holland will indeed continue playing Spider-Man in future movies. The bad news is that he likely will never be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe again.

Spider-Man is a character whose screen rights have been owned by Sony Pictures for years, before Disney ever launched the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The two studios formed a partnership so that the superhero could live in the same cinematic world as the other Marvel characters.

Tom‘s Spider-Man launched the partnership between the studios with his appearance in Captain America: Civil War and he appeared in five MCU movies overall.

Disney received five percent of first dollar gross for Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home, but the studio wanted a bigger percentage moving forward. Sony opted to keep the five percent in place and the studios were unable to reach an agreement on the matter.

Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios, will no longer serve as a producer on any future Spider-Man movies from Sony and Tom will likely not appear in any future Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, according to THR.

It’s important to note that Tom will still return as Spider-Man in future movies, but they will likely not be connected to the other Marvel movies.

Variety reports that a deal could still be reached, so maybe if enough fans speak out, they’ll come to an agreement!
