Stephen Amell Is Happy With Oliver's Ending On 'Arrow', It's What He Wanted

Oliver Queen’s ending on Arrow is Stephen Amell approved!

In fact, the 38-year-old actor actually ended up having a bit of a say because he pitched it himself.

“It’s what I want,” he told TV Guide. “I pitched it for a very long time. It’s what I want, but concurrently, that doesn’t mean that there aren’t surprises along the way. I was floored when I got the pitch for the crossover. I don’t see it coming — nobody sees it coming. It’s going to be so rad.”

In case you missed it, see what showrunner Beth Schwartz said about Oliver’s end.

The final season of Arrow premieres on Tuesday, October 15th on The CW!

Stephen Amell Will Star in a New TV Series After 'Arrow'

Stephen Amell Will Star in a New TV Series After 'Arrow'

Stephen Amell is currently filming the final season of Arrow and he’ll be heading back to television in his first role after wrapping the superhero series.

It was just announced that the 38-year-old actor will star in a new wrestling series for Starz called Heels. The hourlong drama will get an eight-episode first season.

Deadline reports that “Heels is about the men and women who chase their dreams in the world of small town pro wrestling. Set in a close-knit Georgia community, it follows a family-owned wrestling promotion as two brothers and rivals — one of them played by Amell — war over their late father’s legacy. In the ring, somebody must play the good guy and somebody must play their nemesis, the heel (Amell). But in the real world, those characters can be hard to live up to — or hard to leave behind.”

“In the ring, Amell’s Jack Spade is the charismatic villain, or heel, of the Duffy Wrestling Association (DWA). In the real world, he’s its hard-working owner, a husband and father trying to make ends meet while fighting to realize his impossible dreams. He has the mind of an artist in the body of a warrior, and a Steve Jobs-ian need for perfection — and for control. He says he’ll do whatever it takes to build the DWA into an empire. Will he go so far as to risk his marriage, or his relationship with his brother?”

Glee actor Mike O’Malley, who played Finn’s dad, will be the showrunner!

Stephen Amell had the nicest things to say about his Arrow co-star Katie Cassidy!

The 38-year-old actor took to his Instagram to praise Katie after she recently directed her first episode of the show.

“I would really like to congratulate Katie! This was her first episode directing and she did a really, really lovely job,” Stephen said.

He continued, “She doesn’t like to do a lot of takes, which I like. In general, I’m sure it can be really intmindating but she gave a lot to the actors and was really positive and frankly, put me in a position where I wanted to deliver a good performance for her…She’ll direct again! She was really great!”

Stephen Amell Teases A Sweet Olicity Moment Coming in Season 8

Stephen Amell Teases A Sweet Olicity Moment Coming in Season 8

Emily Bett Rickards might be gone from Arrow, but there’s still a sweet Olicity moment coming in the first few episodes of final season of Arrow, according to Stephen Amell.

Speaking with TV Guide, the actor teased fans about the moment in which Oliver can’t wear his wedding ring.

“She is ever-present in Oliver’s mind,” Stephen shared of Felicity. “We found Oliver can’t wear his wedding ring in the premiere for a very specific reason, but he can wear it in the second episode.”

He adds, “It wasn’t built into the script, but I spoke to our director, Antonio Negret, and we built a moment of Oliver putting his ring back on and thinking about it. So Emily’s gone, off the show, but Felicity and William and Mia are ever-present in Oliver’s mind.”

Stephen also spoke of Oliver’s hope that he’ll be together with Felicity soon.

“That gives him purpose and allows him to move forward because he knows that somewhere along the way, in the immortal words of Chris Cooper from The Town, ‘This side or the other,’ they’ll find each other.”

Arrow returns in October on The CW.

Stephen Amell Really Wants To Take This Item From The 'Arrow' Set After The Series Finale

Stephen Amell Really Wants To Take This Item From The 'Arrow' Set After The Series Finale

Many stars take a little something from the set of their movie or television show to remember it by and Stephen Amell definitely wants to do this too as Arrow approaches its’ series finale.

However, while others will chose something small, Stephen is thinking bigger.

“I want to take a suit,” he shared with ET in a recent interview. “And when I say, ‘I want to take a suit,’ I mean I’m going to take a suit.”

We have no doubt he’ll make this happen somehow.

Stephen also has one of Oliver’s bows, too.

“I have the bow from the pilot,” he added. “I have that. I’m not giving that back under any circumstances whatsoever. Oh, here’s a scoop for you: One of the reasons they want me to give it back is because in season eight, Oliver is using his season one bow which magically appears because the Dark Archer broke it.”

Arrow is set to return in October on The CW.
