The 100 fans, don’t fret, the prequel series is STILL happening!!

We’ve had periodic updates here and there since the original series ended, and we have another new update.

The CW’s Mark Pedowitz shared a brief mention on the prequel and if we can still expect it during a press briefing on Tuesday (May 25).

All hope is not lost on The 100 prequel!

CW’s Mark Pedowitz recently gave a new update on the potential series, which aired it’s backdoor pilot during the final season of The 100.

“The 100 prequel is still in discussions at the studio level. I’d like to see it happen. I’m comfortable with where the prequel spinoff episode we did this past season,” he told THR. “It’s not a pilot; the earliest that would happen would be probably summer 2022, if that happens. We may end up deciding that we can’t put the pieces together and it won’t happen.”

So, The 100 prequel is not 100% moving forward, but it’s not not happening.

The 100‘s series finale just aired and many are surely wondering what’s going on with the prequel!

The show’s creator and showrunner Jason Rothenberg recently gave a bit of an update on the prequel series.

“I wish I had good answers for you. What I can say is in terms of whether or not it’s going to happen is that there are discussions that are still happening at the highest level,” he told Deadline.

“You know, I think probably I’d be talking out of turn if I mentioned where those conversations were happening, unfortunately, but there is a chance, a good chance, I guess, that it could come back. I wish I had news this week, it would be great to announce it this week, I don’t think that’s going to happen,” Jason added.

He was also asked if any of the characters from The 100 would appear in the prequel.

“I don’t think we’ll see the characters from the original show. I mean, again, I would say never just because you don’t know what’s going to happen if you are lucky enough to run for a while,” Jason said. “Eventually, you do tell a story. I do know that one of the things I want to do is get it back up to space because concurrent with the timeline of the prequel, what’s happening in space is all the space stations, that were separate at the time of the nuclear holocaust, are coming together to form the ark.”

“So, up there is where we would meet the great, great, great grandmother and grandfather of all of our heroes, Clarke’s great grandparents, great-great grandparents, Bellamy’s, Octavia’s, obviously, and so we could tell a story that way,” he continued. “Some of the actors have already tried to make the pitch that their great-great grandfathers and grandmothers look exactly like them. I doubt that’s going to happen. We’ll see. But I do know that that is somewhere where I want to take the prequel if we’re lucky enough to get it ordered.”

Ahead of the show’s series finale on Wednesday night (September 30), some of the stars shared goodbye messages.

“Oh Clarke. Somebody give this woman a cuddle!! And a good nights sleep,” star Eliza Taylor said in response to a photo of her in character.

The 100‘s series finale is airing TONIGHT (September 30)!

The CW show is coming to an end after seven seasons on the air, and showrunner Jason Rothenberg is dishing on the final episode.

“We’re going to try and wrap up as many things as we can,” he told TVLine. “It’s a finale — and it’s a series finale on top of that — so there will be some surprise guests. Fans can have expectations of a certain scope and scale that I feel we’ve always been able to achieve in these finales.”

“This was a difficult season, because we also made a pilot within the season in the middle of everything,” Jason added. “And because we shot the pilot so late in the season, I went right from being on the set of the prequel to prepping the finale… It was definitely a challenge, but I’m glad I did it. I kind of wish I’d done it earlier, so I could have four or five [episodes] under my belt now, but it would have been a regret had I not.”

In tonight’s series finale, “The Last War,” after all the fighting and loss, Clarke (Eliza Taylor) and her friends have reached the final battle. But is humanity worthy of something greater?

There was a major character killed off of The 100 on tonight’s (September 9) episode!

In “Blood Giant,” Clarke (Eliza Taylor) went to the extreme to protect Madi (Lola Flanery), pointed her gun and killed ____ to save her.

WARNING!!! SPOILERS AHEAD!!!

Many fans were shocked by the death, and showrunner Jason Rothenberg took to social media to defend the decision.

“For 7 seasons, The 100 has been a show about the dark things that humanity will do to survive and the toll those deeds take on our heroes’ souls,” he wrote. “We knew Bellamy’s death had to go to the heart of what the show was all about: Survival. Who you’re willing to protect. And who you’re willing to sacrifice.”

“His loss is devastating, but his life and his endless love for his people will loom large and affect everything that comes after, to the very end of the series finale itself,” Jason added. “We thank Bob for his beautiful work over these long years and wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”

There are only about a handful of episodes of The 100 left as the series comes to an end after the current season.

Fans are getting a first look at the potential prequel series for The 100!

The backdoor pilot episode is airing TONIGHT (July 8) on The CW.

In “Anaconda,” Clarke (Eliza Taylor) confronts a new adversary. A surprising connection takes us back to the past and the nuclear apocalypse that destroyed the Earth.

“Callie has just returned from a protest march against some government abuses and they were attacked on some level by the overaggressive police,” showrunner Jason Rothenberg told EW about the episode. “The fact that the show is now unfolding in the wake from everything that’s happening in the world with regard to George Floyd and Black Lives Matter, [it's] just weird coincidences that of course we could not have predicted.”

The prequel series has not been given the go ahead by The CW yet, and hopefully after tonight’s episode, they will have an answer for fans.
