Lindsey Morgan is marking her first time as a director tonight!
The 30-year-old actress is making her directorial debut with tonight’s (July 1) new episode of The 100.
In tonight’s episode, “The Queen’s Gambit”, Emori (Luisa d’Oliveira) tries to heal Sanctum’s old familial wounds while Echo (Tasya Teles), Octavia (Marie Avgeropoulos) and Diyoza (Ivana Milicevic) struggle with new ones.
Lindsey opened up about her first time directing.
“Directing felt a lot like sailing a ship, and you have your course and you know the weather and you planned everything and you brought snacks. You really plotted your trajectory,” she told EW. “And then you’re in the sea, and a storm comes, or a shark, or someone gets bitten by a jellyfish! And you just have to constantly adapt to the new situation at hand and adjust your sails to whatever comes.”
“With every episode and every film set, there are challenges or obstacles and for me, it was things I didn’t ever see coming, I didn’t plan for, but I’d have to adjust on the fly and adapt and try to make every new decision an opportunity to make the overall project better. But it was tough because I’m a planner, so I definitely had to work on my spontaneity and resourcefulness,” Lindsey added.
The 33-year-old actress teased that her storyline is “unlike any other experience.”
“This season is completely unlike all the others, and I’m so grateful that the writers have created such dynamic and ever-changing worlds. The way Octavia gets to wrap up her own storyline is unlike any other experience, and potentially emotion, she’s felt in a really long time,” she told Hollywood Life.
“It’s been the most rewarding experience I think I’ve ever had in my life,” Marie added. “I’ve had the honor to play Octavia Blake — I’m not going to tell you how many episodes because then I’m telling you if I live or die — for a very long time. I started the show I think when I was 24 and now I’m a 33-year-old woman. I feel like we’ve grown up together.”
“The characters I play, I always put a bit of myself into them as well. I’m really proud of all the work the cast and the crew and the producers and the writers have done in this world that they have created,” she continued. “It’s been so much fun for me as an actress to play her. She’s never boring. She’s always ever-changing. I would always be surprised when I got to work and picked up a new script and flip the page. I never knew what direction she was running or going or coming… you name it.”
Tune in to the seventh and final season premiere of The 100 TONIGHT (May 20) at 8/7c on The CW!

“It’s bittersweet,†she shared. “It’s like when you graduate high school or graduate college or something that you really loved, but you’re okay with saying goodbye to. It’s given me a ton of opportunities. I’m incredibly grateful. It’s changed my life. There’s no doubt about that.”
Marie added that, “I’ve become very attached to Octavia and I’ve become very attached to the actors that I have worked with for seven years. It’s going to suck to say goodbye. There’s definitely going to be tears, but it’s time to move on for sure. But that doesn’t take away the gratefulness. We’ve all grown together as people and actors and it’s going to definitely be a challenging day to say goodbye.â€
