Adelaide Kane Was Almost Cast On This Other Amazing CW Show

Before Adelaide Kane was Drizella on Once Upon a Time, and Mary, Queen of Scots on Reign — she was almost Clarke on The 100.

In the new issue of NKD mag, the Aussie born actress opened up about her early struggles that made her into a household name and revealed that she could’ve actually been Clarke on the dystopian CW series.

But as we all know, the role ultimately went to another Aussie — Eliza Taylor, whom Adelaide calls “incomparable”.

“It was a strong female character [Queen Mary Stuart], a queen who was ultimately doomed to a very tragic life, and I thought that was really interesting, because I don’t feel like all stories about powerful women should necessarily end in success,” she shared about her former role.

Adelaide adds about her acting journey and how “everyone always says, ‘such and such is an overnight success’ and I’m like, ‘That’s not how that works.’”

“I’ve been working since I was 16 and it took me a good three years of doing the odd horror movie or occasional web series to really gain some traction,” she adds. “While I was on Teen Wolf, I booked Reign and the rest is, as they say, history. Pun intended.”
