Dara Renee Reveals Why the Last Episode of 'HSMTMTS' Was Extra Special For Her

Dara Renee is opening up about the most recent episode of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series!

The 20-year-old actress, who plays Kourtney on the show, revealed one big reason why the most recent episode, “Most Likely To,” was extra special for her.

In the episode, Kourtney’s mom goes into work with her as a sort of back up to face Howie. If you remember, it was revealed that Howie is playing the Beast in North High’s production of Beauty and the Beast, and Kourtney was blindsided by the fact that he goes to her rival school.

We got to meet Kourtney’s mom, Michelle Greene, and she is played by none other than Dara‘s real life mom, Kimberly Brooks!

“EPISODE 8 IS OUT!! THE REASON THIS EPISODE IS SO SPECIAL TO ME IS BECAUSE MY HERO IS JOINING ME ON SCREEN! My mom who has been with me through thick and thin is playing my tv mom!!! She has taught me everything I know and I wouldn’t be here without her! MOM WE DID IT! WE MADE IT MA!!” Dara wrote in a sweet Instagram post.

“P.S she created an Instagram just for this so can y’all please show my mama some love 😭❤️ @mskimberlybrooks 🎉,” she added.

“Extremely grateful to Tim Federle, the AMAZING cast & crew and all the people at Disney for allowing me to be apart!😊BUT ESPECIALLY thankful to my ENTIRE HEART, @dararenee ❤️! I’m SO proud of you and love you more than you’ll ever know!💋,” Kimberly wrote in her first Instagram post.

If you follow Dara on social media, than you will more than likely have noticed that that was her mom on HSMTMTS, and if you don’t, go follow her @dararenee!

Kimberly is of course also an actress, and she has had a number of guest star roles. Some of her credits include Young & Hungry, Just Jordan, Judging Amy, The Parkers, Huff, Even Stevens and The Jamie Foxx Show.

She is set to appear in another episode later this season.
