Beauty and the Beast is getting a prequel series!

The Disney+ show will focus on Gaston and LeFou, with Luke Evans and Josh Gad reprising their roles.

According to THR, the limited series will be a “six-episode musical event” and composer Alan Menken is in talks to write new music for the show. While no other cast members from the Beauty and the Beast live-action movie are confirmed to return, there’s the possibility that they could make guest appearances.

Josh was previously working on the Muppets Live Another Day comedy series for Disney+, but that show got scrapped. This new idea was born from his time working on that show!

This 'Beauty & The Beast' Movie Theory Might Solve That One Plot Hole That Keeps You Up At Night

This 'Beauty & The Beast' Movie Theory Might Solve That One Plot Hole That Keeps You Up At Night

One of our favorite movies of 2017 was Beauty and the Beast, hands down.

We thought we knew everything about everything about the movie (both animated and live action), however, this new theory completely surprised us and blew our mind.

One of the big plot holes from the animated version was that no one in the nearby village actually knew about the “hidden” castle. The live-action version fixed that with a spell — but the other plot hole that was left open was how no one seemed to age. Not even the villagers!

This theory from Reddit user Hainted gives us an answer to that.

“The village of Villaneuve is caught in the Enchantress’ curse as well. It’s stated outright that she erased the memories of the Prince, his lands, and servants from the villagers’ minds, but if you pay attention she also locked the village in a time loop,” they write, before providing a lot of examples.

This hints to a daily loop, however, Hainted explains it might be more than a month-loop. Remember, Gaston does mention a 5-day search for Maurice.

'Beauty & The Beast's Potential Sequel Would Be About Gaston

'Beauty & The Beast's Potential Sequel Would Be About Gaston

If a Beauty and the Beast sequel actually happened, Gaston would get all that he wanted — a movie just about him.

According to The Wrap, there was a plan for a potential sequel where instead of Gaston meeting his demise in the final moments of the live-action adaption, he would live, and then be turned into a Beast!

Screenwriters Evan Spiliotopoulos and Stephen Chbosky revealed that their alternate plan was for “the enchantress would come and he would be cursed as the new beast.”

He added that Gaston viewers could’ve seen him “run off into the world as the new beast, whether to be redeemed or come back as a villain.”

However, the more traditional end was decided at the final moment.

But, who knows, we still could get a sequel like this.

Dan Stevens Was SO Excited to Film This 'Beauty and the Beast' Scene

Actor Dan Stevens did an amazing job making the Beast come to life on-screen in the new Beauty and the Beast film!

While we knew Emma Watson would connect with her bookish character (she has spoken out about the meaning of Belle’s love for books in interviews) it turns out Dan understood the Beast’s literary proclivities as well.

During a Twitter Q&A Monday morning, Dan revealed to Entertainment Weekly that the library was his favorite scene to recreate.

“My favorite set to recreate was the library – I was excited to get to step into the real Beast’s library,” he said.

We can’t blame him — gifting Belle with a library remains one of the most romantic gestures in Disney movies to date.
