BTS Postpones Full 'Map of the Soul' World Tour

BTS has announced some sad news.

The K-Pop group’s management company Big Hit Entertainment shared that the band’s Map of the Soul world tour is postponed amid the global pandemic.

It was previously announced that the April dates were either canceled or pushed back, but now the entire tour is being put on hold.

“This tour involves the participation of staff and crew from around the world as well as global logistics systems,” Big Hit said in a statement to Billboard. “While there are certain countries, regions and cities where conditions have improved, including Korea, it is difficult to make the decision to begin the tour based on these recent developments. Due to the nature of BTS concerts involving travel by thousands of international fans no matter where the performances are held, it is also difficult to resume the tour with the current strict restrictions on cross-border movement still in place. Moreover, it is impossible at this time to predict when the first performance marking the start of the tour will be able to begin.

“Therefore, we have made the difficult decision to suspend the previously-announced tour schedule and develop a new schedule,” Big Hit continued.

“The decision to reschedule the tour was made with the health and safety of our artists and fans in foremost consideration,” they added. “With sincerity and commitment to transparency, we will inform you of any and all further changes and continue to provide updates.”

In good BTS news, it was recently announced that Suga will be collaborating with IU for a new song!

“I turned this on because we wanted to try something new. It’s not that this content has a specific name to it. With our concerts being postponed or canceled and the situation extending over a long period of time, we came to the conclusion to try something new,” RM said of the live stream, via Soompi.

“It’s nothing much, we just wanted to share what we’ve been doing to feel more connected and that we’re doing a lot of things together. From now on, we plan to share our lives with you about once a week.”

He also confirmed new information about upcoming music amid the pandemic.

“I’m sure many of you have guessed by now, but we’re going to be releasing another album. We’ve begun preparing for it. We’re going to be sharing that preparation process with you. No details have been decided as of now, we’ve only just started talking about it. That we’re going to be creating something new. We’re going to work hard to do that,” he explained.

“We’re not sure when that album will be released. I’m sure there will be moments that we don’t want to show because the album making process isn’t always beautiful, but even though we don’t know what the end result will be, we’ll do our best.”

Their latest studio album, Map of the Soul: 7, was released in February.

One member of the group recently went viral because of a video of himself staying at home.
