This just in – a Stargirl sequel is officially in the works at Disney+!
Director Julia Hart and star Grace VanderWaal are both set to return for the follow-up, THR reports.
Julia and Jordan Horowitz, who co-wrote the first movie with Kirsten Hahn, “have written the original script that follows Stargirl’s journey out of Mica and into a bigger world of music, dreams and possibility,” the site says.
Grace will also write and perform new original music for the sequel.
Elijah Richardson, who played Al Morris in When They See Us, is set to play the new romantic lead.
It’s been almost a year since Stargirl first premiered on Disney+. The first movie starred Grace and Graham Verchere, and was based off of the novel of the same name by Jerry Spinelli.
If you missed it, Grace recently made a pretty big change to her look!
