The first season finale of Good Trouble had so many stories that will be continuing throughout season two, when it comes back in June.
EP Joanna Johnson spoke to TV Guide about what’s coming in the episodes ahead and it will be focused on The Coterie.
“Growing the ensemble and really exploring all these really wonderful rich characters, and how they interact, how the Coterie gives them a sense of community that helps them through the stress of everyday life, and in the smaller questions, and the bigger questions that they’re faced with,” she shared about the overall storyline you can expect to see.
She adds that “just digging deeper into these really fascinating and interesting characters” is part of the plan.

In the episode, Callie (Maia Mitchell) is torn in two different situations – “She’s really torn between the letter of the law and the ethics of her clerkship, and the fact that she really wants to see justice for Jamal and for Malika and for Sandra, Jamal’s mother,†EP Joanna Johnson previewed with TVLine.
And then there’s Gael and Jamie: “She’s also torn between these two men, who represent very different parts of herself and very different people and paths for her life.â€
Elsewhere in the finale, Mariana (Cierra Ramirez) gets some new information about the salaries at Spekulate from an unlikely ally, forcing her to make a decision about whether or not to release the spreadsheet outlining the pay gap; and Sumi’s wedding day is here, and it’s time for Alice (Sherry Cola) to face her emotions head-on.

Freeform announced this afternoon that both hit series would return in June for their mid-season premieres.
The second half of grown-ish‘s season three will be back on Wednesday, June 5th.
After a cliffhanger spring finale, Zoey and her friends find themselves at dramatic crossroads in their relationships, academics and adulthood. The second half of the season continues to explore important topics, including cultural appropriation, mental health, academic scandal and more.
Good Trouble‘s second season will kick off on Tuesday, June 18th.
The series will continue its’ stories of Callie, Mariana and the residents of The Coterie was they navigate the next phase of their young adult lives in Los Angeles.

In “Broken Arted”, Gael’s (Tommy Martinez) art show brings together members of the Coterie for an evening that has emotions running high, especially amongst Gael, Bryan (Michael Galante), Callie (Maia Mitchell) and Jamie (Beau Mirchoff).
Meanwhile, Mariana (Cierra Ramirez) develops a new app idea to pitch to Evan, but the issues at Spekulate continue to threaten to thwart her plans, while Callie learns some shocking information about the Jamal case.

Meanwhile, Mariana & the other women at Spekulate face a heightened risk of being fired when the spreadsheet they created to fight gender pay equality becomes less anonymous.
