The 30-year-old Sweet Magnolias and Zoey 101 actress took to her Instagram story on Monday (June 28) to share a video message to fans after many have criticized her for not speaking out.
Jamie Lynn Spears has been given a promotion for the upcoming second season of Sweet Magnolias!
The 30-year-old actress and singer will be a series regular for the new season on Netflix, Deadline reveals.
Also being upped to series regulars are Dion Johnstone (Erik Whitley) and Brandon Quinn (Ronnie Sullivan).
Jamie Lynn plays Noreen Fitzgibbons on the show, who is “the pregnant former mistress of Bill Townsend (Chris Klein), Maddie’s (Joanna Garcia Swisher) now ex-husband.”
Via Deadline, Noreen’s “friendship with Kyle Townsend (Logan Allen), Maddie’s son, was pivotal in Season 1, and her sudden departure from Serenity disrupted multiple lives. She appeared in 10 episodes in Season 1.”
Sweet Magnolias is based on the popular book series and follows lifelong best friends Maddie, Helen (Heather Headley), and Dana Sue (Brooke Elliott) as they juggle relationships, family and careers in the charming small town of Serenity, SC.
Season two is currently underway, and it will premiere in 2022.
Fans have been clamoring for a reboot for a while, especially after the cast reunited for a skit on All That.
Just last week, Jamie Lynn gathered some of her co-stars once again for the music video for the reimagined theme song, “Follow Me (Zoey 101)”!
Now, she says that doing the video, answered some reboot questions for them, and the reboot could happen even faster now.
“I’m already in conversations with everyone about the reboot, as far as actually making it happen with the networks and stuff,†Jamie Lynn told ET Canada. “Truthfully, this video answered a lot of our creative questions, so, I just think the reboot is going to happen even faster now.â€
Unfortunately, Victoria Justice wasn’t able to be apart of the video, but she did get a little shoutout!
Jamie Lynn just opened up on On Air with Ryan Seacrest about the Zoey 101 reboot and how the music video came about.
“2020 was a crazy year. We’d been focusing on the reboot and giving it to the fans, at the beginning of the year,” she told Ryan Seacrest. Then with everything that happened, we were like, well, let’s figure out a way that we can safely give them something. We figured, why don’t we give them a song, give them something to finish 2020 out on a better note, and look forward to the reboot in 2021.”
I think that we’re just kind of taking a lemon and making lemonade, and have fun with, and just engage with the fans. Really, that was the main intent of the whole idea,” Jamie Lynn added.
Jamie Lynn Spears – ‘Follow Me (Zoey 101)’ Music Video
Jamie Lynn Spears just released her new single “Follow Me (Zoey 101)“!
The 29-year-old Sweet Magnolias actress and singer debuted the new remix of the Zoey 101 theme song.
Jamie worked on the new version of the track with Chantel Jeffries and gave it more of a dance/EDM vibe!
“I’m literally crying the happiest of tears!!!! I can’t believe it’s finally out! Go stream FOLLOW ME ( Zoey 101) NOW! Our childhood dreams are finally coming true! #followmezoey101 #zoey101 â¤ï¸ðŸ¥°ðŸŽ¶ðŸŒŸ,” Jamie Lynn wrote on Instagram as soon as the song was released.
In case you missed it, she also announced a See It First premiere event, which will be the debut of the music video to the song, and it will feature some of the OG Zoey 101 cast, as well as quite a few, new faces of today’s crop of social stars!

‘Follow me (Zoey 101)’ – Jamie Lynn Spears with Chantel Jeffries
The 29-year-old actress and singer will be dropping a new single, “Follow Me (Zoey 101),” which will be an updated version of the original song, produced by Chantel Jeffries.
From the teasers and the fact she’s releasing a new single, we are guessing that all these stars are going to be starring in the music video!
Jamie Lynn also said that this is just a little thing to tide fans over for an actual rebooted Zoey 101 that is in the works.
“All That was kind of just to test the waters, and then it was like, ‘OK. It has to happen. This just has to happen,’” she told Nylon magazine. “That’s when the conversations got serious.â€
“Obviously we want to meet her as an adult now, and I do think it should be a show for young adults,†Jamie Lynn continued. “We want to do it justice for the fans that were 10 and 12 when it first aired, while also bringing in the new generation of fans. Finding that balance will be really important because we want to connect with where people are today. The conversations that we’re having right now are creative. ‘What is that story? What is the best way to meet Zoey today?’ We don’t want to just do it to do it. We want it to be good.â€
“They’ve been so loyal, and I think in today’s world, especially where we’re living, I just wanted to put something out there that’s happy,†she added about the new song. “This is reminiscent of that time, but also the modern Zoey. Who would Zoey be today? What would she sound like? This hits it right on the head, especially for where I’m going with everything. And not just for Zoey, but for me, too.â€
Jamie Lynn reprises her role as the bacon-loving bodyguard who attempts to stop the All That cast members and stars of Zoey 101 from entering the set, and it marks the first on-air reunion of the Zoey 101 cast since it wrapped in 2008.
In the skit, Thelma Stump doesn’t allow the cast to come to the set, and Jamie Lynn also appears as herself. The old lady character also lands some great jokes, including, “I don’t care how many names you got, Miss Jamie Lynn Manuel Miranda. Ain’t gettin’ in without a pass.” LOL!
You can catch the Zoey 101 reunion on All That THIS Saturday (July 11) at 9pm ET/PT.
