Nathan Parsons and Jeanine Mason appear on stage during the Roswell, New Mexico panel during New York Comic Con on Sunday (October 6) at the Javits Center in New York City.
The actors were joined at the event by co-stars Tyler Blackburn, Michael Vlamis, and Lily Cowles, and executive producers Julie Plec, Carina Adly MacKenzie, and Chris Hollier.
During the panel it was announced that original Roswell cast member Jason Behr will join the cast of The CW’s reboot series.
“We’re very excited that Jason will be joining us for a multi-episode arc. It’s only fitting that he’s playing a (currently top secret) character with deep ties to Roswell, New Mexico’s history. Working with him has already been such a special experience for all of us –– particularly when [Roswell co-star] Shiri Appleby was on set to direct him. I was such a huge fan of Roswell as a kid, so having their stamp of approval –– not to mention their expertise and advice –– has really meant the world to me, the cast and the crew,” Carina said in a statement.
It was also announced that Friday Night Lights‘ Gaius Charles will play Bronson, a local farmer with a strong moral compass that leads him to see the good in people –– and aliens –– in a time of great prejudice. Ultimately, his quest to protect those he loves pits him against forces far more powerful than he is.
The actress – along with co-stars Heather Hemmens and Amber Midthunder – showed off the front of the first episode’s script on social media on Friday (August 9).
“I promised a fan I’d write this on the cover of my first season 2 script before we even got picked up,” Jeanine captioned the images below on Instagram. “This feels so good. Ladies are back in town. 201 here we come. THANK YOU! #RoswellNM 👽.”
The writing reads, “Things don’t happen to Liz Ortecho, Liz Ortecho makes things happen.” (Liz is Jeanine Mason‘s character on the series.)
The first episode of the second season of Roswell, New Mexico, titled “Stay (I Missed You),” is set to premiere in 2020 on The CW.
The two stars spoke with TVLine about what it will take in the upcoming season of the show and both agree that it’s not going to be an easy fix.
“It took us nine episodes to get together, so we’ll see how long it takes her to bring him back to life. … I hope she can pull it off!†Jeanine shared.
Jeanine also shared that Liz will have quite a time introducing Rosa back into society in the small town.
“It’s been a decade that [Rosa has] been gone, and this is a tiny town where everybody knows everybody else’s business,†she says. “It’s going to be an obstacle to figure out how to keep that a secret, or how to reintroduce her [into society]. I don’t know. The thing that comes to mind is: How do you tell a parent that their child is back after a decade of being dead?â€
Roswell, New Mexico season two will premiere in Spring 2020.
