The Jonas Brothers performed virtually for the 2020 BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend!
The guys put on a show from their respective homes of their latest song “X“, and performed it in the dark.
“Don’t miss our #BigWeekend performance tomorrow morning at 11:30am BST!! Here’s a sneak peek 👀 @bbcradio1,” they teased on Instagram.
They also briefly dished that they used the song at the end of their concert film Happiness Continues as a surprise for fans.
“We decided to use X for the end credits of #HappinessContinues as a special surprise for you guys. Drop an ⌠in the comments if that’s where you heard it first!!” the guys said.
In case you missed it, Nick, Joe and Kevin sang about brushing your teeth while appearing on The Not-Too-Late Show with Elmo!
The upcoming series will be out next Wednesday (May 27) when HBO Max launches, and we have the first preview episode and behind-the-scenes video.
During the Jonas Brothers appearance, Elmo shared that he thought really hard about questions to ask them and came up with the “best question ever”.
“Can all of you make a goofy face?” Elmo asked the guys. How cute!
“I think we can, right guys?” Nick replies.
“Yeah, we can,” Joe says.
“But I think we should see Elmo do a goofy face first,” Kevin adds.
The guys also talked about competing against each other, and being supportive of each other. They even competed in a “Silly Freeze Dance” contest!
Later in the episode, the Jonas Brothers return as the musical guest where they sing a song about brushing your teeth. Skip ahead to the 10:12 min mark to watch that.
The Jonas Brothers just released their music video for one of their latest songs “X“!
The guys – Kevin, Joe and Nick – filmed the video separately over Zoom, along with their collaborator Karol G.
“The #XMusicVideo is here! Definitely a new experience shooting a music video with the directors on Zoom while we were at home 🤯😂 Hope you guys love it!” the boys wrote on Instagram.
The week before, the Jonas Brothers shared that they were about to shoot the music video, but then the quarantine stopped them from filming.
“We were going to shoot the video about a week before everyone was in lock down. So we just made the decision that, just judging off of what was happening internationally, we said we think it’s better that we adjust this concept,” Joe told On Air With Ryan Seacrest. “We were able to come up with something really fun and unique, and definitely putting our thinking caps to adjust.”
In case you missed it, the Jonas Brothers and Karol G performed “X” for the Graduate Together special. Watch here!
“It’s all been planned. We’ve thought through all of this for the last 20 years. We had it all mapped out,” Kevin jokes.
“I really love what people come up with,” Joe adds about all the fan theories. “For the last week when we have have shared this with fans and some friends, they come up with this elaborate family tree of what this means. They decode it themselves. I don’t think it’s that complicated, but we actually kind of like it even more. Just let people figure out their own versions of this.”
“I think the simplest form is today is the 15th, and the song is ‘X’ and then ’5 More Minutes’, so… I think that kind of covers it,” Kevin said.
“It’s no more complicated than that. Although I’d like to kind of believe that we’re thinking 15 years in the future when we’re, you know, 16, 13 and 10,” Nick added. “We’re super excited. These songs are really important to us and ’5 More Minutes’ we performed on the Grammys, which was kind of a wild thing to play an unreleased song, and then not release it for a couple months. We’ve been wanting to do more of that, to kind of give these Easter eggs to music that we’ve recorded and finding the right moments to put it out and share it with the world.”
They also just announced that the “X” music video will be released on Monday (May 18)!
Jonas Brothers fans might recognize “X,” as it was featured during the end credits of their new concert film Happiness Continues.
“It’s awesome, it’s a collaboration as well with Karol G,” Kevin recently shared with E! about the new song. “I’m the most excited about this song coming out. I’ve been waiting a long time.”
With the double announcement and the videos that they are teasing, fans are clamoring to find out more, specifically why X and V are being put together.
One fan picked up on a moment during the Jonas Brothers‘ 2020 Grammys performance where they actually teased the letters with the lighting in the back, and no one figured it out until now.
Kevinretweeted the fan with an angel emoji, confirming that that was indeed a little Easter egg. See below!
Fans are also picking up that “XV” could be the title of their upcoming album, and that XV is the roman numeral for 15, and it has been 15 years since the start of the Jonas Brothers.
Jonatics are now putting on their detective hats to try to unlock any more clues or find any hints that the JoBros may have secretly dropped.
This news comes just one day after they announced the release date for “X”, which is the same day, and looks like they’ll be both be released as a bundle.
Fans were a little upset that they weren’t getting “5 More Minutes” yet and the Jonas‘ listened and are delivering!
