Disney Stars Ramon Reed, Luke Islam & JD McCrary Cast In Netflix's '13: The Musical' Movie!

The upcoming movie version of 13: The Musical has found it’s teenage cast!

The Netflix film has cast 14 young stars, including Disney stars, Just Roll With It‘s Ramon Reed, The Mighty Ducks: Game ChangersLuke Islam and The Lion King‘s JD McCary, according to Deadline.

13: The Musical follows “Evan Goldman (12) who following a move from NYC to small-town Indiana, grapples with his parents’ divorce, prepares for his impending Bar Mitzvah, and navigates the complicated social circles of a new school.”

Also in the cast include Eli Golden, Gabriella Uhl, Frankie McNellis, Lindsey Blackwell, Jonathan Lengel, Nolen Dubuc, Shechinah Mpumlwana, Kayleigh Cerezo, Wyatt Moss, Liam Wignall, and Khiyla Aynne.

If you didn’t know, the original 13 Broadway musical was the professional debuts of Ariana Grande and Elizabeth Gillies, who were a part of the original Broadway cast when it debuted in 2008.

Ramon and JD have something in common – they both played Young Simba! Ramon played the role on Broadway and in a touring production, while JD voiced the character in the 2019 live action remake of the film.

Luke Islam is also a huge Broadway fan, and has been able to perform on a Broadway stage at the musical Waitress‘ post-show karaoke session, where he wowed the cast and the internet once the video hit the web.

The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers has finally premiered!

The new show is a modern day sequel series, taking place years after the original movies.

Here’s a synopsis: Set in present day Minnesota, the Mighty Ducks have evolved from scrappy underdogs to an ultra-competitive, powerhouse youth hockey team. After 12-year-old Evan Morrow (Brady Noon) is unceremoniously cut from the Ducks, he and his mom, Alex (Lauren Graham), set out to build their own team of misfits to challenge the cutthroat, win-at-all-costs culture of youth sports today. With the help of Gordon Bombay, they rediscover the joys of playing just for love of the game.

The new show is a present day sequel to the The Mighty Ducks films and stars OG Coach Bombay himself, Emilio Estevez.

We’ll never get enough of Luke Islam, which makes it fitting that he chose to perform the song “Never Enough” for the semi-finals round of America’s Got Talent!

The 12-year-old singer, who has been wowing the judges with his covers of showtunes, performed the hit song from The Greatest Showman on Tuesday (September 10) at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

Luke Islam sings his heart out while performing during the America’s Got Talent quarterfinals on Tuesday (August 13) at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

The 12-year-old singer previously earned a golden buzzer from Julianne Hough and this was his big return to the show!

Luke sang the act one finale song “You Will Be Found” from the Broadway musical Dear Evan Hansen, which was originally sung by Ben Platt and his co-stars.

In the time since his original audition, Luke has performed on the Broadway stage of the musical Waitress alongside Sara Bareilles.
