My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic is making a splash during it’s final season!
The animated series introduced it’s first ever lesbian couple on the episode airing this morning (June 15) on Discovery Family.
In “The Last Crusade”, Scootaloo’s long absent parents were revealed and as a same sex couple, Aunt Holiday and Auntie Lofty.
“It was something we all wanted to do — bring this out couple into the final season and make them ‘officially’ a part of the MLP world,” writer and producer Mike Vogel told Buzzfeed. “‘My Little Pony’ has always been about friendship and accepting people (or ponies) that are different from you. So it just felt like something important to do.”
This isn’t the first animated show this year to feature an out same sex couple. Just last month, the long running series Arthur introduced Mr. Ratburn coming out as gay.
