Auli'i Cravalho to Star in ABC's 'Little Mermaid' Concert Special

Auli’i Cravalho will be playing the role of Ariel in an upcoming live concert production of The Little Mermaid, which will air on ABC in the fall!

The 18-year-old actress is best known for voicing the title character in Disney’s animated movie Moana and for her starring role on the NBC series Rise.

Queen Latifah will be playing Ursula and reggae singer Shaggy has been cast as Sebastian.

The live event will happen in front of a studio audience and it will air on Tuesday, November 5 at 8pm. The special will interweave the live performances with clips from the animated movie. Music from the Broadway stage version of the musical will be included.

A live concert production of The Little Mermaid has been staged at the Hollywood Bowl two times so far, with Sara Bareilles and Lea Michele leading the casts. The film played on a big screen and whenever a song happened, the film would pause and the actors would come out on stage to perform the number.

There’s also a live film adaptation starring Halle Bailey in the works!
