Vanessa Hudgens loves a good throwback and we’re very thankful for that because she keeps gifting us with throwbacks to High School Musical!
It has been over a decade since Vanessa starred in the Disney Channel original movie, but her song “Breaking Free” is still iconic and she just sang a duet with Broadway actor Max Clayton while in quarantine.
The two actors met while starring in the Broadway musical Gigi together and Max explained in the video that he actually played Troy Bolton in his high school’s production High School Musical back in the day!
“Hey guys! So a few days ago I posted a video of me singing ‘Breaking Free,’ and my friend Max Clayton decided he wanted to participate. So we did a duet! Hope you like it!” Vanessa wrote on YouTube.
The 31-year-old actress brought on the nostalgia by performing “Gotta Go My Own Way” with her Gigi co-star on Broadway, Max Clayton on Saturday (April 18).
“Soooo @maxmclayton made his side so we could duet together. This ones for you Hsm fans. I’m on an Hsm kick. Loool,” she captioned the video – and she sounds fantastic!
The song is originally from 2007′s High School Musical 2, and is sung between Gabriella (Hudgens) and Troy (Zac Efron).
However, there were some technical difficulties behind the scenes and Ashley and Vanessa shared them!
“Here’s some bloopers for y’all. We had so much fun filming We’re All In This Together but definitely had some technical difficulties (🙋ðŸ¼â€â™€ï¸ me),” Ashley shared on Twitter.
Vanessa even forgot a few steps to the dance!
Check out both of their videos below:

Zac Efron joined the High School Musical cast on the Disney Family Singalong on Thursday night (April 16), though he sadly didn’t sing with them.
The cast reunited to perform the smash hit song “We’re All in This Together” from their own homes. Zac is supposedly quarantined in the “middle of nowhere” with poor WiFi, but he sent in a grainy video that served as an introduction to the performance.
“Hi everyone, I hope that you’re safe and that you’re healthy and that you’re doing as well as possible during these unprecedented times. It’s my greatest pleasure to introduce a musical performance by some of my oldest friends, and some new ones. I hope that you enjoy, and remember, we’re all in this together,” Zac said. He unfortunately didn’t sing with the cast, but you can watch the performance below!
“I wanted to find something I can do to participate and it was so great to be given the call and invited by ABC to join,†Kenny shared. “It gave me a purpose to get up every morning. I feel really good that we have an opportunity to do something like this — it’s good medicine.”
He added about Zac‘s participation, who will appear in a special video message: “We couldn’t reach Zac until late but when we did, he immediately jumped in, of course. Everyone we reached out to was quick — and you’ll see it in their spirit and the way they come together from their homes. They recognize this is an opportunity to strengthen spirits for those joining us for the broadcast.â€
The Wildcats are expected to be performing their signature song, “We’re All In this Together†on the program.
The Disney Family Singalong is slated to air on Thursday, April 16 at 8/7c on ABC.
“Guess who’s back…” Vanessa captioned the screenshot below on Instagram, while Monique added along with the same shot, “Together….together…..🎹😉.”
Vanessa Hudgens holds onto a container of two coffees to go on Monday afternoon (April 6) in Los Angeles.
Along with her coffee, the 31-year-old actress also picked up a big bag of food to go from a local eatery, taking a break from being inside for quarantine.
Later on, Vanessa was seen picking up some other items from a pet store for her pup, Darla.
Vanessa, who has turned off all comments on her Instagram account following backlash for her comments about coronavirus, shared a lovely pic about remembering that spring just arrived.
