The cast of The Goldbergs lost a beloved co-star this week.
George Segal, who played Al “Pops†Solomon on the series, passed away on March 23rd due to complications from bypass surgery, his family confirmed.
“The family is devastated to announce that this morning George Segal passed away due to complications from bypass surgery,” his wife Sonia said in a statement, viaDeadline.
George‘s final episode of The Goldbergs is reportedly set to air on April 7th.
The stars who played his family on the show took to social media to remember their late co-star.
“Today we lost a legend. It was a true honor being a small part of George Segal’s amazing legacy. By pure fate, I ended up casting the perfect person to play Pops. Just like my grandfather, George was a kid at heart with a magical spark. I think these memories say it all…” Goldbergs creator Adam F Goldberg shared on Twitter.

The sister music duo posted a teaser of an updated version of their hit song “Potential Breakup Song.”
The song is one of the girls’ biggest hits, and they’re updating it with new, explicit lyrics.
“12.29.20,” they simply captioned the snippet.
“Ending 2020 on a high note,” they added in the comments.
“Potential Breakup Song” was originally released in 2007 when Aly & AJ dropped their third album Insomniatic, when they were signed to Disney’s Hollywood Records.
Just last week, Aly & AJ dropped their latest single “Slow Dancing,” along with the music video, which also stars AJ‘s beau, Good Trouble star Josh Pence, and was directed by Aly‘s hubby Stephen Ringer.
The song is an “ode to longing for a moment of unwinding with a special someone and a glass of wine, the ethereal slow-burner feels all-too-familiar given the state of the world.”
Kim recently opened up getting fans to be in the at home video.
“I’ve been asking all my fans to send me videos of them bringing the beach to their home. So, I’ve been getting so many videos of them in bikinis, with drinks, on beach towels, in their bathtub,” she told Apple Music. “People have really been getting creative for that.”
“So, I’m really excited for that to come out because I really think that’s going to make you feel like you just went to the beach, which was initially all I want to do with the song,” Kim added. “I just want you to feel like you just went to the beach and have a good time. That’s really all I want from the song.”
Aly & AJ fans have long believed that their hit “Potential Breakup Song” is about Joe Jonas but the duo are now saying that isn’t the case!
A fan recently posted that they had just learned the origins of “Potential Breakup Song” but when Aly & AJ saw the post, they quickly shut it down.
“ok so you’re telling me that i went 13 years not knowing that one of the greatest songs ever written was about joE JONAS THIS ENTIRE TIME,” the fan wrote.
Aly & AJ corrected the fan, writing, “Flattery not Potential”
While some fans continued to debate in the comments if AJ had sent Joe a piece of cake in the mail when they were dating, others turned to focus on the lyrics of “Flattery.”
“I will admit if you’ll admit it / It’s harder than we both thought / It’s easier to fall apart / Look where we are / I can forgive it, I can’t forget it / You left me here with all these scars / And you can’t deny the hardest part – I’m not in your arms,†the girls sing.
