In a new interview with EW, Melissa opened up about the one request she had when producers asked her how she wanted Kara Zor-El’s journey to end.
“They pitched it to me because they wanted to know if I had any input as to where I wanted to see Kara ending up at the end of the series,” she said. “I had one request, and it wasn’t even something they were thinking about doing. They pitched me the end, and it’s really lovely. It’s a great ending. I feel fantastic about it.”
The cast was seen on set just one day before the sixth and final season premieres on The CW on Tuesday (March 30).
If you didn’t know, Supergirl is switching nights and will actually be taking the Superman & Lois time slot on Tuesday nights after The Flash.
This schedule is temporary as Superman & Loisgoes on a hiatus until May. Once it returns, Supergirl will then go on a hiatus until the summer, when the final episodes will air.

Supergirl is flying onto our TV screens ONE WEEK from today, on Tuesday (March 30)!
The hit CW series will premiere it’s final season on a new night and time.
In the premiere episode, “Rebirth,” as Brainiac (Jesse Rath) lays close to death after trying to stop Lex (Jon Cryer), Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and team soar in to save him, engaging in an epic battle with Gamenmae (guest star Cara Buono).
After beating Leviathan, Supergirl turns her attention to Lex who has used the Obsidian platform to brainwash half the world to love him and follow him at all costs, no matter what horrible things he does. Knowing how dangerous this makes her brother, Lena (Katie McGrath) enlists the entire team – Alex (Chyler Leigh), J’onn (David Harewood), Dreamer (Nicole Maines), Kelly (Azie Tesfai) and Brainiac – to help, but Supergirl realizes that the only way to truly stop Lex is to sacrifice herself.
The first part of Supergirl‘s sixth and final season will take the place of Superman & Lois as it goes on hiatus until May 18th. At that time, Supergirl will then go on a break and air the rest of the season later this summer. Find out more here!

Melissa Benoist is back to work on the set of Supergirl on Thursday (March 4) in Vancouver, British Columbia.
The 32-year-old actress was joined for scenes by her co-star David Harewood, who plays Martian Manhunter.
This is the first time we’ve seen Melissa out since she welcomed her first child, Huxley, last fall. Her pregnancy pushed back production on the series, and pushed back the premiere date, which has yet to be announced.
That day, David shared a selfie with Melissa, both masked up in between takes.

The Supergirl cast actually started working on the upcoming final season back in October, but this is the first time we’ve seen photos of them on set.
If you missed it, though Melissa will be stepping away from Supergirl, this actress has been cast as the character in an upcoming DC movie, making history. Melissa even sent her love and support for the casting!

The Supergirl actress took the stage at the Supergirl Special Video Presentation and Q&A at San Diego Convention Center on Saturday (July 20) in San Diego.
The cast shared an adorable group hug around Mehcad, who will be leaving the CW series in season five.

In addition, the show’s producers announced that two new characters will be joining the action in National City for the upcoming season: DC’s Andrea Rojas (aka Acrata), played by Veronica Mars‘ Julie Gonzalo, and renowned reporter William Dey, played by Game of Thrones‘ Staz Nair.
Season five of Supergirl premieres on October 6.
