Disney+ just announced that the series has been renewed for a 10-episode second season.

It has been wonderful to partner with the extraordinary Gina Rodriguez to champion specific, diverse points-of-view and we look forward to seeing even more of President Cañero-Reed in this next chapter.â€

Season two will feature more of Executive Producer Gina Rodriguez as the adult Elena, the future President of the United States, in a recurring guest role.

The two ladies play the younger and older version of the main character, Elena. Gina also serves as an executive producer.

Charlie will play Bobby, Elena’s “sweet-faced but mischievous older brother.” Selenis will play Gabi, their “intelligent and loving mom.” Michael will portray Sam, “a lawyer at Gabi’s firm who is in the beginnings of a relationship with her.”
Gina, meanwhile, will recur as the adult version of Elena, currently on the campaign trail.
“I established my production company as a vehicle to tell stories for and by the underrepresented,†Gina Rodriguez said. “Bringing this story to Disney+ is a dream come true not to mention hope for our future.â€
The 10-episoide Diary of a Female President will premiere on Disney’s streaming service in 2020! Production is currently kicking off.
