Joseph Gordon-Levitt & Cynthia Erivo Added To Live Action 'Pinocchio' Cast!

Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be starring in the upcoming live action Pinocchio film!

The 40-year-old actor is set to star as the lovable Jiminy Cricket in the new adaptation, Variety reports.

Also joining the cast is Cynthia Erivo, who will take on the role of the Blue Fairy, as well as Flora & UlyssesBenjamin Evan Ainsworth, who will voice the title character, Pinocchio.

Keegan-Michael Key has been cast as the voice of Honest John, and Lorraine Bracco joins as the voice of a new character, Sofia the Seagull.

These new castings join the previously announced stars Tom Hanks as Geppetto, and Luke Evans as The Coachman.

The upcoming retelling of the animated classic will be written by Robert Zemeckis and Chris Weitz, with Robert also directing.

Pinocchio is set to begin filming this month in the UK, and will debut on Disney+!

Luke Evans Joins Tom Hanks In Live Action 'Pinocchio'

Luke Evans is coming back to Disney!

The 41-year-old actor has joined the cast of the upcoming live action version of Pinocchio, Deadline reports.

“I cannot wait to start!!!!” he excitedly tweeted with the announcement.

He will star as The Coachman, alongside Tom Hanks, who is playing Geppetto. Robert Zemeckis is attached as director, and the film is set to debut on Disney+!

The Coachman is one of many antagonists in the story and is notorious for luring “stupid little boys” to Pleasure Island, where they are transformed into donkeys and sold on the black market.

Luke and Tom are of course no strangers to the Disney family, with Luke first starring as Gaston in the live action Beauty and the Beast. Tom has been in numerous Disney films and shows, including Saving Mr Banks, Big City Greens, Cars and of course his most famous role of Toy Story‘s Woody.

If you didn’t know, Luke is also set to reprise Gaston in a Beauty and the Beast prequel series, along with Josh Gad as Le Fou.

It has just been announced that Disney is developing a live-action adaptation for their classic film Pinocchio, according to Deadline!

The film’s script will be written by Peter Hedges, who is known for his work on The Odd Life of Timothy Green and About a Boy.

Pinocchio isn’t the only film getting a live-action adaptation, Jungle Book, Beauty in the Beast, and Winnie the Pooh are all going through the same treatment.

Disney has decided to capitalize after the huge success of their latest adaptation of Cinderella, which has grossed $400 million worldwide.
