Tonight’s the night…the night we say goodbye to our favorite Rooney family on Liv and Maddie.
“It really felt like it was the last week of high school, which it kind of was for the young actors,” showrunners John D. Beck and Ron Hart told JJJ about the final week of filming.
They added, “We have been lucky enough to work on a number of different television shows but we never got to finish a show where it felt like the time was right and everyone was, not ready to see it end, but ready to move on. That was a very nice feeling.”
Tonight’s episode will reveal that the Rooney house is finally rebuilt and Karen (Kali Rocha) can’t wait to have the family reunite in Wisconsin.
However, when exciting opportunities arise for each of the Rooney kids, their summer plans are suddenly thrown into jeopardy.
Liv and Maddie: Cali Style airs Friday, March 24 @5:30PM ET/PT on Disney Channel.
Dove Cameron, Tenzing Norgay Trainor and Joey Bragg make up one of our favorite sibling groups ever, so it’s no wonder that they totally impressed for their auditions for the show.
“This is my favorite story ever,” John D. Beck says before sharing how Joey entered their world. “Joey Rooney was an incredibly difficult part to cast because we needed to find somebody who was not the typical kid…not a cool kid, not a nerd, but something we termed as confidently awkward.”
“He was sitting in the lobby and I made a note in my mind to make sure we saw him because I thought he was going to be the kid we needed for Joey,” he continues. “He walked in and the first words Joey Bragg took a look at Ron, who kind of does look a little like Joey Bragg, with the glasses, but isn’t thing like Joey is.”
“The first words he ever said to us were ‘Hey, you look exactly like I’ll look in a few years if I make a lot of bad life choices’. I was like, ‘This is my guy. You don’t have to say another word. You got the part as far as I’m concerned’. He did nail the part.”

Shay Mitchell, who starred in his latest film Mother’s Day, wrote: “I have been fortunate in the sense that I have not lost many people that have made a significant, life changing impact to my world. Today, we lost someone who not only changed my life, but changed and touched the lives of so many others.”
“Through his work, Garry Marshall was able to make us laugh, cry, feel joy and pride one moment, and the next, utter sadness. But he always did this in a beautiful way that made for such fantastic and timeless films,” Shay continued. “Each moment I spent with Garry on the set of Mother’s Day was perfect, and is something I am so honored to have experienced. It’s also something I look forward to telling my children about. I will always remember his infectious laugh and his joyful spirit. I am so grateful to of been able to be in his world, even for a small moment. Garry, you will be truly missed…”
